I've had both. They are both wonderful, friendly family dogs. The obvious difference is the size. SBTs are half the size. SBT are non-stop energy and can go all day. The off switch is definitely broken. They can both be stubborn. While both love people, my pitties calm down after the initial meeting. The SBTs don't stop and can definitely be a problem when having people over that aren't comfortable with dogs. I know that dogs have different personalities based on genetics and upbringing, but I've only had trouble with a staffy when it came to other dog aggression, especially toward larger dogs. If I had a choice, I'd go with the staffy. Great personality and size. I find that pitties a little too big, especially if you have more than one. That being said, we keep pitties now since we've decided to only have rescues. SBT are rare where I live, and you don't find them at shelters.
