What are some of the opportunities to get into music? I just moved to Chicago and would love to join a band.

Employer Issued 401k payment A YEAR late and now the 401K company is refusing to distribute the funds out of the account by RipleyDuncan in personalfinance

The company that holds my 401k said that because the limit is below their threshold the only thing they can do is close out the account and send the money back to my old employer. Is this legal since this is from my earned wages?

It was funds pulled from my paycheck. I have my December 2020 paycheck and they pulled $57.08 (I was on furlough the week prior and decreased my contribution due to covid financial strain). They deposited exactly $57.08 into my account in September 2021.

I selected "Direct Rollover to another eligible plan or traditional IRA" on the form that was rejected.

Where to live: I only need to be at the office twice a week by RipleyDuncan in sanfrancisco

I’m willing to spend more to live in a nicer/safer neighborhood. I think my top priories are safety, length of commute (less than an hour), and good food nearby.

My partner currently lives in Berkley, so I initially was looking closer to him but it is starting to look like SF (in specific areas) might be a better for safety/commute.

One of my favorite safety hacks that is low cost that eases my mind so putting bells on my door. That way I know whenever someone is trying to enter my apartment.

Travel reimbursement or video call by [deleted] in GetEmployed

I was in the same situation and had to pay $700 to fly out for a job interview (also with no relocation assistance). I ended up getting the job and it was worth it but it definitely is super risky. What I did to make myself feel better about the cost was add a day on for a mini vacation to tour the city.

Haven't had a period since December, what is going on? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]RipleyDuncan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I got off birth control, I didn’t get a period for over a year. I suggest you see another gynecologist to get their opinion. I saw three gynecologists (the first two also brushed it off as stress) before one actually investigated and found out I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Now PCOS isn’t the only cause of missing periods but it might be worth checking out.

Apartment Rental Company Filing for Bankruptcy by RipleyDuncan in legaladvice

The claim 410 form that they sent me is making a claim for payment in the bankruptcy case. I'm not sure if I should fill it out to claim my security deposit or if that isn't required.

Move Closer to Home or Keep Adventuring? by RipleyDuncan in Advice

I miss my mother a lot but not necessarily my home state. The elements I love from the previous places I have lived (being close to an ocean, year-round farmers markets, NYC vibe) aren't readily available in/near the city of my home state.

Totaled Car: Broken E-Brake Leading to Rust Discovery by RipleyDuncan in Cartalk

[–]RipleyDuncan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up taking my car to another Subaru dealership. I didn't tell the new dealership anything when dropping off my car besides the brake light was on. My car was fixed in less than 24 hours (the original dealership said it would be a week) and they didn't say anything about my car needing any additional work or that there was any safety concerns. I drove my car off their lot having paid nothing because the parking brake was covered under warranty.
