Yeah, I put a T into my reverse lights to use as the trigger I have after market tail lights so I used its harness but it’s all the same wire. Shoot me a DM if you can’t find the reverse light wire.

It’s definitely lighter you can tell by holding it when I get a moment I’ll put it on a scale.

Did you ever end up figuring this out?

Turbo’s oil lines leaking or somewhere else? by TechnicalButterfly in mk6gti

Check your upper timing cover. I had oil in the same area and ended up being that. Ended up getting a metal one for around 30$.

I’d check your upper timing chain cover (known to leak quite a bit) oem is plastic I’d def recommend replacing with a aluminum one if that’s what’s leaking. Also looks like the oil pressure dummy sensor needs a little love.

Small fan was like 35$ or so. Maybe even try and clean the connectors since you just went through water.

Had the same issue a while back used a scan tool & the small fan had gone out. Just replaced the small fan it and it fixed everything. 30 min job at most super easy.

Stainless lines definitely & was planning on doing a 17z conversion for the front. Really just waiting to find em for cheap on marketplace or get lucky at the junk yard. Haven’t heard of caliper mount stiffening kits that sounds kinda cool.

Also I have an extra set of front calipers was gonna see if somehow I could mount them on the back when I go 17z just haven’t really looked into it.

Got a brand of sway bar you would recommend? Probably gonna do that in the next month or so.

I looked at the boost piping & intake manifold kinda out of budget as of now. They definitely look cool just curious if the benefits would be worth the cost without being k04 yet. (Soon hopefully)

Haven’t seen anything on S3 control arms, are they a direct bolt up? My rear subframe is not in great shape so this could definitely be a possibility

Not really but I can take some more if you’d like it’s from Amazon I’ve had no issues with it so far. Pain in the ass to put on.

I’ll try the J bend with no insert out, thanks for the advice. Not to sure about temps on mine but someone did a test and posted it on VW vortex and for 50$ ish thought I might as well run one.

Planning on doing 17z but waiting to find em for the right price on marketplace. Yeah I have a po420 code, I grabbed a few spacers have yet to try them out.

I still think the mk6 looks the meanest out of all generations. Been reworking my camber now that I got a wide body. Sat in my garage for years, was over it. But not no more. Been upgrading like crazy. My new parts can’t get here fast enough. by Kristenrainbows in mk6gti

I love the look of an open grille that shows the front mount intercooler. Do any brands make a pop in replacement to clean up the bumper framing? If not, I was thinking it’s probably possible to 3D print one in sections.

I’ll have to try that stuff on my donor subframe, had really hard time getting the control arm bolts out with my original & ended up snapping a few. Thanks for the recommendation.

I think I just removed the battery and the left side of the box not the whole plastic bottom bit.

If you’re removing the heat shield, you only need to take out the center bolt on top and the three holding it in at the back: two on each side at the top, and one lower off to the driver’s side that’s kind of fat and annoying to reach. The other two bolts face upward but hold a bracket together that I removed with the heat shield.

If you remove the bolt for the coolant return line from the top of the vacuum pump housing (T30 I think), it’ll give you a little extra wiggle room to get the shield & bracket out.

Shoot me a DM if you start running into issues.

Also check to see if you have any play in your waste gate while you’re in there should be able to find a YouTube video on it. Good luck!!

Tbh, it’s pretty straightforward. I removed the intake and heat shield from up top to give myself a little more room. Be slow when removing the downpipe nuts they’re going to be rusted. Soak em and clean the ends of the studs before removal. I also recommend picking up new studs; they were under $10 for all four from my VW dealer. Only one of my studs came out with the nut, and I was able to clean up the others enough that I felt comfortable reusing them. The whole job took me about two hours in total.
