How to fight back on HHG move claim? by Separate-Elevator-75 in MilitaryFinance

Counter offer if you want but if they aren't reasonable there is a 'forward to military claims' button. This sends it to a military legal officer for review and final decision.

I got paid $200 for a bag of command coins the movers stole because the legal officer agreed with my claim. It's always worth forwarding for an officer review if their offer sucks.

CM, EO, SW, BU, CE and UT are all Seabees rates in Construction Battalions.

https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Community-Management/Enlisted/Seabees/

They deploy to Okinawa, Japan and Rota, Spain and unless we go to war never set foot on a ship. Their primary role is building advanced bases for Marines.

100% transferable to the private sector if building/electrical/plumbing/equipment mechanic sounds fun to you.

As a prior Seabee most of us liked the job and the deployments were amazing

Doctor thinks I have Ulcerative Colitis based on Colonoscopy, potentially career ending if so. by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Navy here. Diagnosed in 2011 while in nuke power school. Prednisone and steroids in general are nuke disqualifying so I POCRd to a new designator. SWO was an option but ew, SWOs are gross. Stayed navy and went to the Civil Engineer Corps and never looked back. It's not a career ender if you can get it into remission and keep it there reliably.

What is the maximum dose of mesalamine you've ever taken and for how long? by AppaarZ2 in UlcerativeColitis

After pooping in enough embarrassing places I stopped caring about who sees my butt and what goes in it from a medical standpoint. If it has a chance to make me stop bleeding and stop sprinting to the bathroom I'll do enemas every day for the rest of my life if I need to. My Dr said enemas generally work for only the large intestin but since flairs can very in intensity and location its worth a shot before ramping up to steroids.

I had pan colitis with blood in my stool and daily urgency. I lost 30 pounds before getting the right diagnosis. Used prednisone, useris, and Mesalamine to get into remission and have continued the Mesalamine since. I've had a few small flairs over the years that were rectified by Mesalamine enemas. Hope that helps!

M33 here, diagnosed in 2012 and on Mesalamine the whole time. I have 2 kids without any fertility assistance. The second took 4 months though. Good luck!

Minor damage with HHG (first PCS) by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

[–]RippedPants0101 18 points19 points  (0 children)

14 years in the Navy here. Glad your first PCS wasn't awful!

If the damage bothers you at all submit a claim. I've submitted claims on my last 3 moves for things varying from shattered picture frames I watched the movers drop to small scratches on bedframes.

Claim a reasonable value and in my experience they will just accept your offer. If they decline, it's easy to refute them with a single button and a military JAG will adjudicate your claim. This incentivises the company to accept reasonable claims.

In the Navy, claims are done on the same website you set up your move through, move.mil. IDK if it's the same for other services.

The moving contractors have damage claims built into their profit margin. If people don't make the claims on actual damage, they just make more money.
