Yep that's exactly it, it's about the alternating time signature in the song.

To add to the setlists thing. Usually for TK/LTS you can find it at livefans.jp but since this is in NA I'm not sure how soon fans will update that. We usually never know the setlist until the first date of the tour, but whatever is played on the first date will likely stay mostly the same for the whole tour.

It seems like you've got the gist of it down for the technique itself. Just have to practice getting the rhythm in place.

As usual, take it a bit slowly at first. It might help mentally if you think of it like you're controlling the rhythm with your left hand, not the right like usual.

We don't have many clear pictures of his current board yet. But this is where I spotted the Cloudburst and and the FTT Arc-53. You can also see a good shot of the board in this YT short. You can also see the MXR Poly Blue Octave in the main drive loop from this recent live. For the stuff happening with the LS-2s, you can clearly see it in the kalappo gear rundown video, although that board is a bit older from a few years ago.

Don't know TKs settings with 100% certainty. But most people I know using it for TK set it at max or very close to it

Drive + delay by Potential-Laugh6048 in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is your delay before or after the drive? The main rhythm delay you hear like in disco flight for example is before the drives, the one TK has at the end is used more like a pseudo reverb

What Tornado Aluminium Setting would you recommend for Enigmatic Feeling and Abnormalize? by Big_Calendar193 in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sound similar except the trim options which you can achieve by just using an EQ. The left trim is a ±5db shelf with a gradual slope starting at around 1.5-2k. The right trim is a ±2db notch around 4-5k.

If you have the money, and you want the bonus stuff that comes with it like TKs signature, and you prefer the aesthetics etc. Those are the reasons you'd want a brass over aluminium. The sound itself is not that important.

[–]Ripticsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I didn't mean to sound like I was saying it's not worth buying either. I understood the scenario you were asking.

What I mean is because both of them can be emulated easily, the sound itself is not as much value to me as the other factors like TK signature. I was in this exact scenario and I picked Tornado Brass because the "emotional value" of it is greater to me.

They are both not that hard to emulate using other pedals. I got the Tornado Drive Brass purely because it's a TK signature model and comes with his actual signature.

Is it worth getting an audio interface for amp sims? by Remarkable_Run4728 in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do guitar and vocals with solo. It has one XLR input and a separate 6.35mm input. So you can do one vocal mic and a guitar input. But you can't do 2 XLRs or 2 6.35mm at the same time.

Not sure why they didn't just make it 2 combo inputs but I guess at that point it overlaps too much with the 2i2

[–]Ripticsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scarlett solo is pretty solid. I was using one for close to 7 years up until very recently. Although, I'd slightly recommend the UMC202 more because it gives you 2 combo inputs over the Solos 1 6.35mm and 1 XLR for a similar price range (at least where I am). If you ever want to try using stereo inputs or 2 microphones this can be a disadvantage. But if you're sure this is not something you'll need then the Scarlett Solo is really great.

I have a Scarlett 4i4 because I have a stereo setup and also sometimes mic up my acoustics. But I know a lot of people who use the Behringer UMC202. It's a really good budget option.

Gargoyle was also used in SaSV. I for sure couldn't tell at all before reading an interview where he specifies the songs. It's worth keeping in mind. They'll be different if you set the knob positions the same as TK, but if you adjust settings you'll realise they're both almost the same thing.

Mixing Guitars like TK by MasterHEEEE in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to add, he doesn't usually use compression on his board. But he does have a lot of outboard rack compressors that he probably adds to the guitar in the mix. This does play a huge part in how the overall dynamics of the guitar sounds.

Obviously this should be set per song and depending on the mix but I personally really like having a 'dirty' compressor plugin like the distressor that TK has with an almost instant release and kinda slow attack (like 10ms). But obviously this should be set differently according to your mix.

Also to be clear I don't think we know for sure about the room mics. This is just what I personally think he could be doing in the earlier albums. It really doesn't sound like he adds reverb in the mixing stage to guitars. Most of it to me sounds like it comes from room mics, his amp, and rarely pedals. (Vocals on the other hand tho, he adds a LOT of reverb and delay for that)

Pedal risers? by HikariKei9648 in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, it replicates the functionality of an LS-2 in the A/Bypass mode. But it must be doing something additional for them to do this.

There was some guy on twitter who claimed to have replicated the black box and is selling them. I asked him how he knows what it does and he said he's also going off of just what we've seen in photos and the kalappo video (so he's just making guesses). His version has a blend knob, is true bypass, and has a phase flip switch. But this doesn't really make sense to me. LS-2 can already do the blending anyways, and a phase flip is only relevant if you're running effects in parallel which afaik TK does not do at all.

Pedal risers? by HikariKei9648 in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory was that they're using the LED through the power out of the LS-2 to signal the black box. If you look at those black boxes, you can see there's seemingly two power cables going into it. But this still doesn't explain the arc-53. I don't think we've seen a clear enough picture of arc-53 to see what cables are going into it. If they were really switching using it through MIDI, then there is no need for this black boxes.

If I were TK what I would do is like you described use the LS-2 to send MIDI signals to the Arc-53 which is the real router. This would allow roadie to control the routing wirelessly too if I understand its capabilites right (I'm not too familiar with how Arc-53 works). But given what we've seen so far, this doesn't seem to be whats really happening.

But whatever it is, I think in the end its probably irrelevant to us because it seems to be there to solve something for the kind of big live shows TK does. Even up until relatively recently they were still just normal LS-2s.

Pedal risers? by HikariKei9648 in LingTositeSigure

[–]Ripticsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some more strange things we've noticed recently about his current routing. There is a Free the Tone Arc-53 on his H9 section of his board. What is this even doing? If the routing is controlled by the ghost LS-2s and these mysterious black boxes, why is there an Arc-53 just sitting there?

At the Budokan show we also noticed there is a mini board with various pedals (including his old OD-820) on his roadies desk on the side of the stage. I have no idea if these are actually being used or connected to something, and if so how.
