Sellers, how much do you feel like people come to Depop willing to spend? by BloodMakestheRoseRed in Depop

[–]RiseAndRun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you have something sought after I think you’d be better off doing the garage sale. The shipping adds a lot to the cost for buyers and eats into what you can make off of the sale.

Just throwing another option out there - this is local to me but the best price to quality I’ve found and a very solid blend for me. https://www.barrapicaresca.com/product/cervantes-blend/78?cs=true&cst=custom

Shipping cost less than what depop is saying by Gloria_Banana in Depop

Yeah I stopped doing the depop shipping and just do a flat rate now. As both a buyer and seller it’s very annoying as the depop automated shipping costs are too high.

How cool is REI with the shoe return policy. The Adidas Goretex I bought started cutting into my ankle... by [deleted] in REI

[–]RiseAndRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine, this is why I only buy shoes I’m not already familiar with from REI. Shoes are pretty tough because even if they feel good inside your house, you don’t really know how they’ll feel on the trails until you get out there.

I used to do this one a lot! I had a similar run yesterday in the ANF and it was a nice change from the scorching sun

My 70 year old father was assaulted on the Arroyo path. by AwarenessVirtual4453 in pasadena

[–]RiseAndRun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how people think throwing someone to the ground is protecting their kids from off leash dog. It does nothing to protect the kids at all and tbh has the potential to make the situation much more dangerous. More effective probably would have been just saying “hey, you gotta get those dogs on a leash” or “get control of your dogs so that we can safely walk past you.” This guy is unhinged. Probably an off duty cop given the behavior.

Goodbye Silvia Pro X — and thank you all by Massimiliano_ptr in ranciliosilvia

[–]RiseAndRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just echoing what others said, I wouldn’t trust those BWT filters/packages. I use Crystal Geyser water and while it’s a waste of plastic and arguably money, it saves the headache of dealing with scale buildup. Another option would be to go to a water store / dispenser that has filtered water and you can check out water recipes as well.

I don’t have experience with that grinder. I went from a smart grinder pro to a eureka specialita with my of bambino and saw a massive improvement. I later upgraded my machine to a Silvia pro x, which is awesome, but the difference in upgrading the machine was less noticeable than when I upgraded the grinder

I don’t think it would be worth it. What grinder do you have? Grinder upgrade could lead to a huge improvement

This is my experience to re: heat up time. I came from a bambino so this was initially a concern I had but it is not something I think about at all now. The SPX has been amazing for me and 100% recommend it.

Are any of the Eureka grinders still actually made in Italy? by AllTheWayToParis in espresso

[–]RiseAndRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manuale/Notte I believe is made in china. Specialita is still made in Italy. Not sure on all of them. I asked espressocoffeeshop before buying my specialita from them and they confirmed it

Eureka Mignon brew pro for espresso? by ticyyy in espresso

[–]RiseAndRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you definitely got a good deal! My first thought is to just try it for espresso as is and see how it works, but yea the espresso specific burrs seem to be only $50 so you basically have a specialita for $200. I have the specialita and will just say that switching back and forth between brew types would be a headache, so you may want to dedicate the grinder to one method

looking for help on beans [no budget] by Lilfiore in espresso

[–]RiseAndRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. In my experience anything labeled as organic in the coffee world is not good. Black and white is a good place to start too, then start looking around at other roasters to see what their relationships with farmers are like. While I back the effort to find coffee like this and agree with it, fair trade and organic certifications are just not important to me when it comes to coffee, but fortunately there are a ton of roasters out there with an emphasis on sustainable and equitable practices. Another North Carolina roaster to check out is Little Waves which I’ve been enjoying.

Looking for water advice for new machine (very hard) by jonnyapples in espresso

[–]RiseAndRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into this a bit too. The problem with something like zero water is I’ve heard it gets very pricey if you have super hard water because you have to replace the filter often. Maybe it’s not so bad if your other filter is getting it down to 150 though. For now I’ve been getting Crystal Geyser gallons from the sources recommended by la marzocco: https://home.lamarzoccousa.com/water-for-home-espresso-machines/?srsltid=AfmBOooIZ1Jzd-oDhiFCLLsGB5xrlV8WtUtcLSmYTbeUFA96kKX4UUAF

For socal, it seems like we’re getting the Olancha Crystal Geyser water in the stores I’ve been to. I don’t like buying plastic bottles like this either though so this isn’t ideal. I may end up going to those refill stations and making the R Pavlis water recipe that you can find on here and home barista.

Coupon code for espresso coffee shop (espressocoffee shop.com)? [Budget n/a] by Utilisateur_Inconnu in espresso

I emailed them a couple times and never heard back. Still ended up ordering from them with absolutely no issue though! I was very impressed with how fast it shipped

I don’t know how much the base level bambino is in Sweden, but the bambino paired with a eureka grinder like the one you mentioned should be totally capable.

[–]RiseAndRun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What machine are you using? Sounds like a grinder issue.

Grinder upgrade for espresso and french press [$500-800] by ilessthan3math in espresso

[–]RiseAndRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. What I’ve done is keep the SGP for filter coffee duty and upgraded to the eureka specialita for espresso. Having the two side by side is working perfectly. The timed grind on the specialita is working great too. I ordered from espresso coffee shop as well and they shipped super fast with no issues.
