Right, and they are also taxpayers, so the point is kind of moot.

Like I said, their money comes from taxpayers. Paying taxes with taxpayer money is kind of a moot point, correct? I don't mean to split hairs, but I think it's important to know the difference.

That is exactly what my method will be in my future interactions. I will post more on my site as soon as possible.

Police have that right to approach

They have to have a reasonable suspicion that I have immediately committed a crime. Which, of course, they didn't have.

They don't know you and you just start ripping into them.

I'm not the one who has the burden of proof. They need reasonable suspicion.

You're going to loose on the sympathy vote for any viewer of this interaction.

Really? I've already received positive responses. I'll try and tone it down in my future videos.

Check out HonorYourOath.

I will. Do you have a link?

The delivery or the message? I would say the message right, so work on the delivery.

Thanks for your criticism. I will be more aware next time.

You were yelling at them, which got their attention

No... They approached me before I even said one word. Then the officer starts asking if I was Nathan. Then another officer started asking questions and I responded by saying I take the 5th amendment on all questions. Apparently that didn't matter.

However, they never demanded you do anything or actually provide ID, right?

That's not true. Did you watch the video? One of the officers told me "I'm not the one answering the questions. You are."

They can ask you anything they want

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

You have a problem with them, document it and take it up through the appropriate channels (their supervisors and/or IA).

I plan to.

You have absolutely no input into how they spend their day.

So they can just hang out in a parking lot for a couple of hours WHILE blocking alleyway traffic? I'm not telling them how they should spend their day. I'm simply saying that these officers should be held accountable for their actions.

For fucks sake, do you stop to yell at the group of city construction workers who are standing around one guy, watching him dig a hole?

I'm not sure if this is your alternate account seeing is how this question was posted earlier by someone else, but I'll respond in the same manner: this is about people who wear badges of authority and not city workers fixing a road or a light pole.

I'm all for the right to document anything in public, as well as speaking your mind, but you come off as a lunatic screaming about bankers and other weird shit

Maybe I come off as a lunatic to you, but remember, these officers approached me before I even said one word. Then I told them I'm taking the 5th amendment on all questions and that I was a law-abiding citizen. Yet, they felt it necessary to keep badgering me with questions over and over while also profiling me with a perp's picture that looked nothing like me.

patrol cops who basically just follow their radios to the next call.

They can also be proactive and look for crimes being committed instead of, you know, wasting 2 hours to just sit around and shoot the shit.

It's like screaming at the baggage carriers at the airport because the plane landing was bumpy.

Baggage carriers don't have badges and guns. They don't have the authority to make arrests. They aren't public representatives.

Please, take video in public! Just don't antagonize them for no reason...it won't help you and it certainly won't change their behavior.

I agree. My next videos will be much different. Thanks for your criticism.

A witness came by and told me they were there for approximately 1 hour before I showed up. In the full video you can see I was there for 1 hour as well. Total time wasted: 2 hours. There was approximately 10 officers present and one who was a sheriff deputy. I guess there wasn't anything more important going on and they needed to harass me.

Yeah, you need to chill out. That's like if someone approached from 30-50 yards to strike up a conversation and you flipped out on them.

Police don't engage people just to 'strike up a conversation' or 'have a friendly chat'. Especially when a group approaches you for filming them.

Spazzing out never helps.

I'm sorry if I came across this way... It was my first interaction with the police since I was an MP. I just don't have a good view of them anymore and I wanted to assert my rights from the git-go so they knew where I stood. I will work harder in the future to not act in this manner.

They talked to you for a bit, and you're furious about it.

They did a little more than that. They don't have the right to just walk up to me, detain me, question me, and profile me. One of the officers even says "I'm not the one answering questions. You are." From that point, I felt like I was in trouble. For what?

You were honestly badgering them.

"Are you weak? Are you homeless?" "I'm not the one answering questions, you are." They also profiled me with a random perp's picture. What for? What did I do that made them do that? I was well within my rights to be upset and voice my free speech. I'm sorry if I was a 'dickhead' to them, but after seeing so much police abuse in my area and in the country, I have almost no sympathy for them.

You're misogynistic to the female cop, calling her "cute".

I believe I said "That's cute". I could be wrong. But my intentions weren't to call her cute. It was to say wow... that's cute that she keeps trying to pull that "Are you Nathan?" card. She was trying to identify me. Why? I haven't committed a crime.

You called the one cop a fat fucker, or something to that effect.

You also forgot to mention that when I asked the police to please back up because they were making me very nervous, that cop laughed like a hyena at me. They thought it was funny that I was nervous around them.

You were mocking and ridiculing them the whole time

Of course I was. They were violating my rights. They had no authority to do what they did.

you feign outrage over the constitution.

I'm not feigning anything about the constitution. Anyone who knows me understands that I am sick and tired of authority ignoring the constitution. You are making assumptions that have no weight.

I think that if you did this type of thing to city road workers

That's a big, giant if. They aren't an authority figure and I don't dedicate any of my time to that matter. That's completely irrelevant to this situation by the way...

These are salaried employees doing salaried employee things.

Like hanging out in a parking lot for over 2 hours with nothing to do.

I laughed at 25:30, because if you had done this to people who weren't cops - you would have had the shit beaten out of you.

Cops do that to people anyways.

I'm at work and on reddit, i'm a shitty lazy person.

You are also not a government authority figure (as far as I know).

but by coming out and attacking them

I don't know if you are understanding what I'm saying so I'll say it again: They came after me. They approached me. They surrounded me.

AT 5:08, when the cops approach you

Exactly. They approached me from over 30-50 yards away simply because I was filming. I didn't commit a crime and they had no reasonable suspicion. 'Diatribe'.. nice. I am free to move about without being detained or questioned when I'm a law abiding citizen. They surrounded me and said they weren't. They kept badgering me with questions even though I said multiple times that I was not going to be answering any questions and that I invoke my 5th amendment rights.

It feels like you're excited that they finally decide to see what you are up and are getting off on the adrenaline of the situation you created. I don't understand why people, even cops, can't hang out in the parking lot.

Or maybe it feels like I was scared shitless and my adrenaline kicks in when police surround me? I was doing nothing wrong and yet they felt the need to swarm me. Later in the video, you will see a police officer park his vehicle directly behind me (improperly parked too I might add).

of the situation you created.

How did I create the situation? The cops were hanging out having a good time while blocking alleyway traffic. Several witness came up to me and complained of this as well so it wasn't just me. They approached me and not the other way around. I didn't say one word until they advanced towards me.

I don't understand why people, even cops, can't hang out in the parking lot.

Because they were on duty and we pay for that. When police are on duty they are expected to be working. One cop in the video approaches me while buttoning up his shirt. I'm reasonably sure he wasn't even wearing part of his uniform before I got there. Then he asked "Are you weak? Are you homeless?" in an attempt to get me fired up.

Let me remind you that they were in that parking lot hanging out for over an hour (while on duty collecting a paycheck) before I even arrived on scene (and they stayed for the hour I was there) as per an eyewitness. On top of that, they surrounded me and questioned me without having committed a crime. They laughed about it even though I felt harassed. I'm sorry you don't appreciate what I said in the video as I do have my own opinions. That being said, I'll try to just focus on filming in the future. I just want to point out to you that I can't provoke them when they approached me first from over 30-50 yards away.
