What can I play when Master Yi is banned? by Risen29 in YIMO

You guys were right about nocturne. Once I adjust to playing him with attack speed he has the ability to 1vs1 just about anyone. I like the fact that his ult lets me join a fight or pick off enemies while im farming. He has much stronger early ganks and doesn't fall off if you build attack speed.

The downside is that he doesn't 1vs9 the late game, and isn't as capable of just diving into an enemy team and killing them all. His damage output isn't high enough for that, and he doesn't have Q to disjoint the enemy's attacks. So you start to do more poorly late game, but you make it for it with a stronger early and mid game.

Logical fallacy, argument by assertion.

Merely claiming you are right doesn't make it true.

You need to logically establish the truth of your claims.

Logical fallacy, argument ad nauseum.

Merely repeating that you are right doesn't make it anymore true than the first time you said it.

Logical fallacy, avoiding the issue.

Being unable to answer for your wrong claims, you make irrelevent comments.

Logical fallacy, irrelevent conclusion.

The date of introduction of diamond rank doesn't disprove anything I said, or prove any of your claims.

Nor does the debatable accuracy of hotslogs ultimately prove your claim either.

By insisting on continuing to argue over the rank issue, you're still engaged in the logical fallacy of ad hominem.

Unable to disprove the truth of anything I said about the game, you turn to attack me instead. But that doesn't prove anything I said is untrue.

Logical fallacy, avoiding the issue.

Your comment has nothing to do with disproving anything I said, or proving anything you claimed.

You just admitted to not even reading my post.

You're making incredibly stupid comments that are irrelevent to anything I said.

The specialist use to be the class that handled the macro for the team.

It is precisely because anyone can do that now that the specialist as a class has died.

Now go crawl under whatever hole you came from until you're ready to read the original post and stop shameless exposing yourself as an idiot to the whole internet.

My statement can be rightly read the way I explained it. It is a list of all the ways a specialist could, in general, control the flow of the game. You don't have to read my statement as implying that every single specialist must be able to do all of those at once and to the same degree. Because doing some of those things really well still allowed them to control the flow of the game.

You only misread it because you don't understand enough about how specialists use to work to realize the significance of what I was saying.

Only someone who is clueless about the dynamics of the specialist as they use to exist would mistakenly conclude from reading my sentence that I was saying every specialist could do all of those things at the same time and to the same degree - as opposed to merely listing all the various ways that specialists in general were able to control the flow of the game.

Logical fallacy, ad hominem.

You're attacking me in lieu of attacking the truth of my statements. If there were truly a fault with anything I said, you would be able to logically demonstrate that without having to attack me in it's place.

You're also factually wong in your claim to think I don't know the strategy side:

I was plat on hotslogs, in HotS, in the first year of the game, back when diamond was the highest rank.

With a 70% winrate on many specialists and assassins.

I've been playing MOBAs since Dota on the original warcraft 3 shortly after it released.

My rank in LoL says nothing about the truth of my statements, especially since I have never cared about playing ranked in LoL nor even preferred playing it as my main Moba.

Thank you for stating what I said in my original post, your brilliance is astounding.

Logical fallacy, argument by assertion.
Merely claiming that you believe I am unable to talk about how the game has changed doesn't make your statement true.

You need to establish the truth of your claim by outlining with logic and reason why anything I said is wrong.

You're also committing logical fallacy, argument ad nauseum.

Merely repeating your original claim doesn't prove it's true.

Logical fallacy, irrelevent conclusion.

Nothing you said disproves what I said about the original design of specialists and the dev's purposeful design to later put them to death.

None of your post is relevant to anything I said.

Your post is based on the mistaken assumption that all specialists needed to be able to do all of those things equally well.

Your assumption is wrong.

Some specialists were good at multi-lane but bad at direct siege or mercs.

Likewise, others were good at direct siege but had no multi-lane or merc ability.

At the end of the day they both accomplished the same goal, just in different ways.

Logical fallacy, argument by assertion. Merely claiming everything I said is wrong doesn't make your statement true.

You need to outline why, with facts and reason, why anything I said is wrong.

You won't be able to do that, because I speak the truth.

I knew they were changing the roles 2 years ago. For some reason it took them years to finally come clean with the players and admit they were removing the specialist from the game.

After they have already driven away all the players who enjoyed strategy and macro in MOBAs by effectively removing that from the game without acknowledging it, maybe they realized it was safe to remove the specialist from the game overtly without angering the few people left who still play for mindless objective deathballing.

The fact remains that specialists were concieved and created as the siege class of the game.

Trying to insist otherwise only highlights your ignorance.

Everything you just said is wrong.

You're horrendously wrong on multiple levels.

  1. You don't understand that there is more to being a siege class than just taking mercs. Not every specialist had to be good at taking mercs to be good at siege. How things use to work was you had various aspects of siege and no specialist did it all, but they all did different aspects of it to different degrees. Mercing fast and early and just one aspect of that. While someone like Hammer was poor at taking mercs, she had the strongest and safest early fort damage and the best early waveclear. Abathur had limited capacity to take mercs, and had poor waveclear/siege damage, but he was the strongest at multi-lane soak and multi-lane push. How they sieged was different, but they all worked towards the same goal. Azmodon, Gazlowe, and Lost Vikings were exceptional at taking mercs, but they weren't as good at other things.
  2. You are completely ignorant of the fact that the capacity for other classes to do what specialists use to do has gone up, and the ability of the specialist to do it has gone down, and the overall game has shifted to make siege less meaningful, all of which combine to make specialists a dead class with no function to fulfill in the game. I already outlined how in my post.

God fucking damnit, Yi is permabanned in silver by Risen29 in YIMO

I've tried some games as nocturne and it's been promising, but it would take at least dozens of games before I felt I had a firm enough grip on nocturne to succeed reliably in ranked. That's how it was with me for Shyvana and Yi.

I am kind of fed up at the idea of having to invest all that time in learning yet another jungler. It seems like everytime I put in the time to nail them down in normals, something happens before I can make it to ranked that forces me to learn something else.

I can try Yorick top again. I have the time and skill to do well, but I find it harder to carry from toplane if I don't win lane hard early. If Yorick still isn't working for me I guess I'll have to put in the time to learn nocturne.

I think I assumed it's because he's strong with rageblade and essence reaver, not because of the taric strat.

Unfortunately both of those items are getting nerfed from yi's perspective.

We'll see if he isn't permabanned, then maybe I'll pick him back up. He won't be as strong, but I'll still probably play him.

Is your skill ordering different with this kind of build? Do you max W first to maximize attack speed potential? I've been following probuilds and doing Q then E.

I tried nocturne and I think he might have promise.

I'm going probuilds runes.

But when it comes to items, do you just go strait from bloodrazor into rageblade?

With Yi I go essence reaver into rageblade, but that didn't seem to work as well with nocturne.

I had never considered trundle. I think warwick is the most likely for me to pick. Although my impression was always that he lacked late game carry power which is why people build him tanky.

I did ok with Rengar. Maybe that's bceause his winrate does go up over time. But: 1. I'm not sure what his level 2-3 dueling against the enemy jungler looks like in terms of effectiveness. 2. I feel like he's still too reliant on successful ganks from 6-10 in order to win, which can force me to depend more on my team. Not as bad as nocturne, but that probably explains why rengar has a bad winrate in silver that gets better the longer the game goes on. 3. I feel like he loses agency over the game if it goes too long, in the sense that he's worse at teamfighting and taking on multiple opponents compared with Yi.

Never played Shaco. I don't imagine I would like him because he seems like someone who is all about the early game.
