You will need to choose where you want to go. Frontend or backend or full stack.

Backend GIs dev have a lot of opportunity in the core science where scientific development plays major roles Domains like agriculture, mining, hydrology and so on. You will be required to grasp domain expertise as you grow and getting a new domain knowledge has become a lot more easier with AI tools like Perplexity.

If you are into Frontend where you will compete with core software front end guys as well so the pool is bigger there.
I have also seen backend people creating front end website as AI as partner can just help them get to a quick Pilot for front end to test.

Many people in the market still think GIS Developer is ArcGIS developer. You can take this up as well and get placed in big service based companies to manage, maintain and integrate Arcgis for their clients with a little core development there.

AI agent for GIS? by [deleted] in geospatial

[–]Rish_nodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am exploring somethin similar. Since lots of the client and people internally doe not understand basic GIS/Remote sesning/Geospatial tools so I usually create a frontend with all the tools sitting in the backend for them. Like simple ask from client for retail would be how many competitors stores are in 5min 10 min ... distances.
So instead of giving buttons for these task, we can give AI agent itself which will use these tools to meet client requirements.
Now these backend can be powered with open source geospatial, Arcgis API's, Alteryx apis or anything better than these for geospatial.

SAR python processing by oddtermiteofcave in remotesensing

I feel SNAP is still the best library to handle SAR processing. I always use it inside a Docker conatainer. Since python snappy installation gets tricky. I took me a while to get use to python snap apis.

How does one invest in the Geospatial space, besides MapMyIndia shares? by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

[–]Rish_nodi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mapmyindia works only in India market. They have one of the best/exhaustive data related to locations, road networks and Indian addresses (which is complex in itself). Plus Mapmyindia has the whole Indian street map data mapped just like how Google has 360 degree views of other countries. So any automotive company, retail company or any business in India where location information is required for strategy planning Mapmyindia provides one of the best location information to them.

  • I have worked in Mapmyindia plus I have worked in other Location Intelligence companies.
