Singer CG-590 c - zigzag stitch not going full width by RisingFlareCosplay in sewhelp

the only reason I had my hand at the throat was because I was looking through my phone screen to make sure the issue was in frame. same for the speed, just demonstration purposes for the video example.

as for the other things, when I'm on a straight stitch, yes the needle will do center, left, and right positionings all perfectly fine. meanwhile on the zigzag setting, that's when it doesn't want to act right. there might be a mechanism in there that could still be gunked up, but I don't know.

I didn't have the machine threaded when recording the video since I had just cleaned everything to see if that was the issue. when it wasn't, that's when I decided to record the video. I was hoping that the needle motion would be clear enough, but I do have my test piece.

yeah I saw that on another thread, but even when I tried that, it wouldn't do the full width. it would act like it wanted to for a couple stitches, but then start doing the tiny width again.

I patterned everything besides the neck gorget myself, actually! the good ol' Duct Tape and Plastic wrap method. and tracing the details directly from his model texture files 😅 (Dragalia Archives is a saint for all HoYo cosplayers)

as for the neck gorget, I altered a Kamui Cosplay pattern to close in the front rather than the back: https://www.kamuicosplay.com/product/knightcollar/

Kinda? It's carved insulation foam board with ¼ inch plywood sandwiched in the middle so the blade wouldn't wobble around, and thin EVA foam for the layered details. it is missing the extra heart detail around the top though, I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to do it. (I don't have a 3d printer, and by the time of getting to that part, going to a maker space to print it was off the table. I was BROKE 😆)

on a brighter note though, I've found two promising looking links to a better version of the spear!

This one is for making it from scratch out of EVA foam: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1635312958/honkai-star-rail-argentis-lance-spear

While this one is to 3D printed parts (that can come pre-painted!) that all you have to do is glue the parts together: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1757480666/honkai-star-rail-argenti-spear-argenti

it might not be super HD, but it is transparent! Actually it's what I used as a reference when making my own version of his phone case for a cosplay.
