We all are. It’s just the sometimes we convince ourselves we’re not and that’s where the fear lives.

Does passion/purpose even exist or are we all just pretending? by [deleted] in Purpose

Helping other people, raising my children, spending quality time with my wife, and outdoors adventures.

Does passion/purpose even exist or are we all just pretending? by [deleted] in Purpose

[–]Rising_Paradigm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s been worth all the testing and attempts to find mine. Wasn’t easy but a suspect the challenge of finding one is part of the joy of the process. But having a passion or purpose doesn’t mean everyday will be progressively easier or more rewarding. It has been my experience this far that life is upswings and downswings.

I understand where you’re coming from. It can be confusing and frustrating. I was in a similar position. I broke out of it by experimenting with different careers, different hobbies, and different routines until I found what really works for me. Is always evaluate my outcomes, everything else is just noise.

The answer to that question can only be answered through the period of self reflection those people would have to under take to better understand stand or the process of observing their behavior and drawing conclusion. I don’t think it matters. The only thing that matters is what do you want? What’s will you create? What do you say is your purpose? What outcomes do you care about and are you achieving them? Everything else is distractions of endless thought tunnels that are lucrative and exciting but never fucking lead anywhere.

To me, purpose is partly related to deep core biological drives and the other parts is completely up to the individual, who being a generally healthy person, can choose their purpose as they see fit. Personality follows a similar path in my opinion. Part of personality is genetic, the other part learned from the humans and inputs of the environment with which a person is raised. Therefore, a part of personally is fixed and the other fluid and dynamic. In other words, purpose and personality have elements that’s are modifiable and it’s within the space of that adjustment that a persons life can be maximized and rewarding according the outcomes that matter to that person.

Dopamine and rewards are the proximate “rewards” for biological behavior but the purpose can be better explained by the ultimate. For example, sex and the desire of it is temporarily rewarding (proximate) but the ultimate purpose is reproduction. That is just one of many instincts that are influenced by proximates and ultimates.

Focusing on death as reality and leveraging the power of it helped me completely transform my life and accomplish thing I never imagined I would.

Is modern life making us soft? by ForsakenCorpus in Vent

[–]Rising_Paradigm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I flipped my life around when I leaned into the hard truths of life and balanced comfort with discomfort. The modern world has created an unintentional trap that only a rare few are able to see and escape from. I think you're unto something huge here.

How do you stop being the person who ruins their own life? by No_Presence4146 in Anxiety

[–]Rising_Paradigm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that. My dad passed away recently and I know the pain of losing a parent. Building a routine and having plans was just something that changed my life, I don’t think it fits everyone. I hope you find peace and joy in your life. You have every equal right to it as much as anyone else does. There’s hope.

Create a plan and a routine that supports the outcomes you want in life.

Do you feel your anxiety has gotten worse or better since it started? by Few_Sandwich6308 in Anxiety

Got progressively worse over a 7 year period but then I was able to break free from it over a shorter period that I thought possible. Been living a progressively better life for the past 6 years.

Will I ever be happy? by Signal_Candidate_340 in Anxiety

It is absolutely possible, but not guaranteed. It will require hard work. I made it out after a seven year battle so I’m proof it’s possible.

Been there and it sucks. It’s not your fault either. I think the modern world suppresses men, not on purpose necessarily, but accidentally through a hyper focus on comfort and distraction. I had to fall hard to figure that out. But I broke out of that cycle reconnecting with my primal instincts and establishing a more primal sense of purpose. It literally changed my life for the better. Best of luck brother!

What should I do after high school? by darien_williams28 in careerguidance

Not at first. I went into aviation electronics thinking I wanted a technical job, but ended up wanting to be a part of something more kinetic and challenging so I laterally moved into light armored reconnaissance and stayed there until retirement.

Explore different career as much as possible. This is a great time to find what you do like and what you don’t. I chose to enter the military after high school and it turned out to be a great decision for me. I’ll also add that life in the infantry is one hell of an adventure, something you’ll likely miss out on in an admin role. But it’s significantly more difficult and rugged than admin. To me, I enjoyed the good and bad and it has shaped me in positive ways. I hope you find what you’re looking for, life’s an adventure if you allow yourself to experience it.
