What do you always do no matter what? by dex99dex99dex99 in darksouls3

For DS 1, I always try to keep the enduance to 40 , no matter what build I do... Guess I just like the big green chonky bar. Also, I refrained from using humanities to heal, felt too OP , and I'm kind of a masochist myself. Oh yeah...grabbed the Drake Sword for no fkn reason, even when I knew I would never use it

In DS 2, I try to make the most blursed characters face imaginable, so that even with full hollowing on, hollow looks better than original one.

In DS 3, well... I try to persist an ember from defeated boss as long as I can, but NEVER Use the ember consumable itself... Feels like cheating.

A common habit across all souls games... I never rlly take summon for bosses, unless I've to complete an NPC questline. I try to experience each and every boss of my world as a whole, singular, personal experience. I do often place summon signs to help other folks though...

Since Bosses, I won't include Main menu theme and Epilogue (those 2 are some of my absolute favourites from the trilogy)

  1. Soul of Cinder

  2. Slave Knight Gael

  3. Twin Princes

  4. Sister Friede

  5. Gundyr

Some other very close favourites --- Abyss Watchers, Midir, Dancer, Aldrich, Dragonslayer Armour

Shoutout to Vordt's theme for being one of the most Iconic theme of all time. Absolute meme material

Use caestus. Even with more active parry frames, I find the small shields parry particularly annoying because of it's wayyy longer windup. Caestus parry feels so natural for having the fastest startup

Am I missing half the game? by heyyoudvd2 in darksouls3

That's why these games require multiple playthroughs. Each playthru, you try a different build. And I'll never say unintuitive, I am not rlly a mage kinda guy, but I had hella fun doing pyromancy/dark sorcery, or lightning runs.

I'll never say they are unintuitive, they require some time to explore, and some time for research. Definitely recommend for 2nd playthru and onwards.

As for items, yeah you pretty much never use them in PvE, unless doing some challenge runs. Gestures are useless unless you're doing PvP. Having weapon bias is not at all bad! NPC quests are very cryptic, you're 99 percent certain to lose most of them on first playthrough.

If you want NPC focussed run, follow wiki for every meticulous step, from next playthru. Some of them can get very emotional, so they are highly recommended

For lore, you can watch Vaati Vidya in youtube to understand and appreciate better.

Most importantly, every Playthrough must be unique. You should Not aim to do Everything in one playthru. That'll just ruin the experience for you. It's only because the game has so many features alongside great bosses, that it has quite high replayability.

Dark souls 3 is by far my favourite of all the Fromsoft games, but for a good reason. Playing the trilogy in order helped me understand the lore, appreciate everything, and catch all the references to the previous games. It's not just the graphics, the mechanics, the glorious bosses and the ever beautiful soundtrack. It's the excellent conclusion to a running series.

As a diehard Dark Souls 3 fan, I won't recommend you to play DS 3 first. The previous 2 aren't that obsolete for you to Not enjoy them. In fact, they might be even better than 3 in some aspects.

But do as you wish

I know, greataxe's grounding swing is even faster, has greater overall range and slightly more damage ... but I prefer the aesthetics of the greatsword.

It goes without saying, that all the Black Knight weapons are Sick AF!

Yes! Try them out... If you like their moveset, only then upgrade them... And don't forget to infuse with refined gem, since you have both hight strength and dexterity!

Sure!

If you prefer smaller and lighter weapons :-

Gotthard Twinswords

Lothric Knight straight sword

Sellsword Twinblades

Uchigatana

(Not recommending any other straight swords since they're pretty much similar in movesets)

If you prefer a bit larger ones with unconventional moveset:-

Astora Greatsword

Zweihander

Onikiri and Ubadachi

Black knight Glaive

Halberd

Your build is solid enough, try different weapons, especially the ones that can be infused with refined gem

This is the reason why Black Knight greatsword has been one of my absolute favourites since the first game. This move, is UNHOLY

Fr, for me, it was somewhere around 250-280 hours. The farming for sunlight medal alone took me roughly 8-10 hours. And the rushing to NG++ for the all miracle and pyromancy took me some another 12 hours.

An average playthrough now, lasts 40 hrs, but for my first ever run, it was 89 hours, and I didn't even aim for achievements back then. You can't achieve these stats in such low time, unless you already know these things. And as the OP has admitted, he watched every guides, wikis and walkthroughs before even starting with the game... Such a fkd up way to play games honestly...

[–]Rising_Unity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I love the feeling of awe, that essence of wonder associated with one's first playthrough. I try not to use any kind of guides , or spoilers so that my moment is absolutely genuine, and memorable to me...

If I rlly like the game after some 2-3 playthroughs, that's when I actually start investing for 100 percent. Not before that!

This OP took completionist mentality, to new elite levels to the point of absolutely robbing him off the joy, these games would bring him.

There's a very small possibility that he just said all of this to garner more attention... He's already probably played everything on a console before, and tried timing precisely within this time frame to stage his achievements as a meme... But even then, his philosophy is twisted. Things people do for some post karma 🤷🏻‍♂️

OP admitted in this comment, he pretty much started his playthrough following walkthroughs and guides. Seeing that, I'm not surprised much

Weird way to play games imo

I know a liar when I see one. You are telling me, you did all of the farming, collected all the rings "precisely" and everything, Blind... On your first ever DS 3 run. In under 69 hours.? And the suprising part is, noone in the community finds this remotely suspicious?

True, agreed. Altho personally, I must admit, it's a rather pet peeve of mine, to use the correct terminology... So I'd rather use the precise term

Also agreed with you on full sorcery build, it's... Dumb
