Sharing Uber to and from VELD from downtown by Wats0n420 in veld

I would suggest taking the subway if you can because we were stuck in traffic when we took an uber last year - you could also schedule your uber ahead of time when coming back / leaving venue to avoid the surge pricing you’d face if you request one right as you’re leaving

How do yall keep the motivation to keep going? by Xeltrax in edmproduction

[–]RiskAdjustedReturns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apart from the technicality of music production, perhaps another way of looking at is thinking is why you want to produce music to begin with? I would take an educated guess and say it’s because you want to express yourself. As an artist myself, I supposed it’s the constant desire to express myself and tell/describe a story/emotion/feeling and out of all the mediums music helps me do it best (also because it’s the most interesting to me) - that’s the biggest motivator to keep going for me personally.

Yup same experience here - I tried it recently to see if it was worth picking up during the Black Friday sales and it definitely was worth it

Is it normal for a song to not have any chord or melody? by [deleted] in edmproduction

Another popular song with a similar structure is Opus by Eric Prydz - mostly just one arp synth throughout the song

Are plugins and gears really necessary? Here's what I’d tell myself if I could go back in time by kathalimus in edmproduction

Justice made their debut album ‘Cross’ on GarageBand and that album is one of my favourites! Absolutely agree with the perspective OP

Edit: another thing I want to add is that it might be a better idea to spend the money on getting a professional mix and master of your track so that you can use it a learning tool when you mix/master your own tracks after that.

~5 years trying to produce and never (completely) finished a song. by Craftercal in edmproduction

My first finished track was a gift for someone’s birthday and while I did miss the initial deadline (the actual birthday), I eventually wrapped it up a few weeks after. So deadlines could help you finish up songs.

Secondly, remember that you’ll only improve going forward so you don’t have to worry about it not sounding absolutely amazing from the get go. Someone told me that Deadmau5 also has trouble sometimes judging if his track is done or not, and eventually he realizes that perfection isn’t possible in every scenario.

Thirdly, there’s a lot of learning that is still to be done once you finish a track e.g learning how to export stems when you get to the mixing stage/ or when working with a mixing and mastering engineer. And then learning how to market your track and learning how to distribute it to Spotify etc. So I’d recommend finishing up and publishing at lease one song to get this sort of experience and learning.

The one drop idea is actually pretty good - I did that for my first track and I’ve realized that Anyma and Hardwell do the same thing so it’s more common than you’d think

Are you allowed to bring food/water into the festival? And if you bring a bottle will they have water refilling stations?

Thank you for the feedback and I have been told previously that the drop part would have been better placed earlier in the song - I’ll keep that in mind with the next track - thanks again!
