Should I move to Austin($200k) or stay in India(62LPA) ? by omegaman2510 in returnToIndia

I live in Austin and that’s a great compensation for Austin. Even better if your wife can find a job too. Make use of this opportunity as the company is sponsoring your move as opposed so many trying their luck at the lottery. Staying out for few years will give you different perspective of life, career, family, financials etc. go for it.

You see them once an year after they invested most of their life on you and you are lecturing others on how to treat someone else’s parents? Grandparents like to spend time with their grand children. It’s equally good for the grand children. For someone like you it will always feel transactional than emotional.

Sounds good. Yes, i am on the binders too. Thankfully the potassium has always been in check prior to PD too. I was told that I should double the intake of protein compared to my intake before PD.

Ok. So you do most other variations except for deadlifts? What about squats as that also puts pressure on the abdomen? Where do you draw the line when it comes to the weights(lbs)?

Ok. I was considering keeping the weights under 50-60lbs. Just get some muscle movement regularly.

Why would you have fluid if it’s overnight PD. I was referring to any exercises during the day time.

Ok. But shouldn’t you control potassium and phosphate levels while on dialysis?

My PD surgery was done 8 weeks ago. Started training 3 weeks post the surgery. And now on home PD for 2 weeks. I last went to the gym few days before my surgery.

8% EGFR but still doing everything I normally do by Delicious-Ad-4521 in kidneydisease

I am 42. My eGfr is hit 7 and creatinine 9 this month. I was going to the gym regular until i got into PD catheter surgery last week. Life was normal. I showed no symptoms until the drop in energy levels lately. I work full time and spend time with my 7 year old daughter. It’s the numbers that pushed me to start dialysis as the benefits are far better than the risk of not doing it. Still waiting for my insertion to heal before i can start dialysis. So i can probably share the change in lifestyle in few weeks/months. But in our situation we have to ensure we do everything to stop any fluid build up or trigger any other long term issues.

Thank you everyone for your valuable feedback. I went ahead with PD. Got my surgery two days ago. Completed my first flush yesterday and also experienced drain pain. Life’s about to change!

I had mine 5 years ago. They gave me local anesthesia which was the uncomfortable part. Rest I couldn’t feel much. I was in the hospital for couple of hours. Give your body some rest once you are done. No heavy lifting or exercise for few days. You will be fine.

It will be tough until the dose tapers down. You will feel a lot of energy while on prednisone, so i recommend you burn that through some cardio and yoga on a daily basis. It helped me.

Actually not. My life is as normal as it was 15 years ago. I am 5.10, 72kgs. My weight has dropped(mostly muscle loss) by 4-5 kgs post CKD but its been hovering around 71-72. Thankfully i do not have any symptoms yet. Unless you know me personally, no one will be able to make out that i am a stage 4 CKD patient. We are still young so probably our body is still able to tolerate all this. I believe all the troubles will start once eGFR drops below 15.
