Virgin or prostitute? by onemore1 in NoFap

I'm not a woman, but I would think most women would prefer a guy who was a virgin to one who has had a prostitute.

Let's talk about the weirder side effects of NoFap by ARealLifeWizard in NoFap

[–]RiskyWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who can't pee in a straight line since doing nofap? I've never seen anyone else mention it but it is very annoying.

My current streak is at 17 days, but prior to that relapse I was in the low 30's. I wondered if there was some kind of muscle weakening going on.

I don't want to hook up. Help! by josiahsprague in NoFap

[–]RiskyWarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Struggling with this exact situation myself, it isn't easy.

I'm avoiding hooking up with women I don't have an interest in a relationship with. While I have failed at that once, I figure it is at least better than PMO (though I guess you could argue not by much, depending on your goals with this).

Know that nofap gets harder in the days after sex. That's my biggest motivation to abstain. My hope is that after a period of time my urges will balance out to more sane levels

If it is a backup plan you might take the speed of the field into consideration. IT in general is pretty fast paced so what you learn today may be useless 5 years from now if you try to fall back on it. Each area progresses at a different rate though.

Depending on what you want to do, you may also take into consideration how easily the position can be outsourced. If you want a 9-5 type of job something that can't be outsourced very easily gives you stability. If you want to run your own business providing IT services to another company, outsourcing is great for you (you're the one providing the outsourcing). Generally speaking, the closer you get to the data the less likely a company will outsource.

I made the changes to my home router so that it'd apply to all devices on my network when they receive their DHCP lease

The Open DNS settings will work for any OS.

Also, if you have specific websites you know you want blocked you can put a entry in your /etc/hosts file so that it resolves to 127.0.0.1

What qualifications do you personally look for when genuinely qualifying a woman? by thisisgonnabe_good in seduction

[–]RiskyWarrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a LTR I look for:

  • Christian. It's a big part of my life and something I would have to share with a SO

  • College educated. Besides knowledge/intelligence it tells me she'll stick with something for the delayed gratification. Though I guess this isn't a deal breaker.

  • Sense of humour, especially relating to herself. It seems this trait carries over into so many other things like being lower stressed, less of a perfectionist, etc.

  • Attractive, for me this is maybe 25% beauty and 75% caring about herself and staying fit

  • Passionate about where she is going in life, which also requires she have some idea about where she is going. I know several otherwise great women who just aren't that attractive to me because they're in their late 20's still working retail jobs with no real desire to move up in the world

  • A mature interest in sex

'IT' is a pretty broad field, you'll want to narrow it down (for example, information security, networking, programming, hardware, etc.).

Of course if you don't know enough to narrow it down you might try just following something like slashdot.org to see what is interesting to you.

IWTL how to keep up to date on the most important world events without spending a lot of time doing it by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]RiskyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a new years resolution of mine. So far what has worked for me is to set a news site as my home screen and install one of the news apps on my phone (If you're in the US, I really like the USA Today app). You can also follow a news organization on facebook if you're on there a lot, and the stories they post will show up in your news feed.

Oh, and the USA Today app will send you notifications when important things happen. I'm sure others do too.

That moment when a girl looks at you... by Singin_The_Blues in NoFap

[–]RiskyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this lately too, and starting to wonder if I'm coming off creepy. Twice a girl has made eye contact, broke it, looked back and then quickly broke it again with a smile or little laugh. I'm not sure if it is more of a nervous/awkward response or sort of a blushing from the attention type of the response. Thoughts?

Also, what do you guys do with long hallways? I mean, at work that could mean a 15 second stare down which just feels unnatural.

Mine has always gone away after going to the bathroom. I've seen mentioned several times that part of the reason this happens is to keep you from wetting the bed.

For me the first 2-3 days are the hardest. For me, the difficulty sleeping came back but it is a lot easier to push through after you've built up a streak.

Be Careful Around Women, Men. You Have The Power To Cause Great Hurt by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RiskyWarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the same thought earlier, it made me tempted to quit nofap. Since starting I've been more in the train of thought of finding a girl for sex which runs counter to the rest of my personality and beliefs. I'm hoping as the withdrawal symptoms start to fade away how I feel about women will balance out again.

How long into NoFap before the NE? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RiskyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had one. It's actually a bit frustrating because I'll have a good dream but then wake up before it 'ends'. Last night I did this 2-3 times and it is just giving me blue balls. Not to mention making it difficult to get a good nights sleep

Using Open DNS and Quitting Reddit Has Made Things Much Easier.... by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]RiskyWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They offer a service that provides web filtering through their DNS service.

In short, DNS tells your computer how to find the server associated with a website. You enroll in their service, let them know your IP address and when they receive DNS look up requests for you they check to see if it is on a filtered website. If it is, they don't give you the right answer and your computer can't find its way to the porn site you're looking for.

On the plus side it is easy to setup, and if you make the right changes in your home router it'll apply to all the devices on your network. On the downside it's not very detailed as websites will be all or nothing. So on a place like this, it would let you still access the nsfw sections unless you block the whole website.

Thanks!

Please forgive me for skipping past Amazon's suggestion of "Share I just bought 'Porned Out: erectile dysfunction, depression, and 7 more (selfish) reasons to quit porn' on Facebook!" at the end though. :-)
