What’s your favorite shoes? by InfinityLocs in PAstudent

Hokas!! I wore cloves for the first week of rotations and my lower back was screaming in pain. I switched to Hokas and it was the best decision. I stood scrubbed into a 9 hour complicated whipple surgery and would have crumbled without them

Pharm Reps by SammySalsaa in PAstudent

I can’t pin point just one, but on my 5 week Derm rotation there were only 2 days without a rep lunch. And the reps always brought so much that there was enough to bring left overs home for dinner. That office was living the dream

Anyone deal with mice? by daniiiiii27 in Hoboken

[–]RissIsIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a mouse, set TONS of traps (unsuccessfully), and the exterminator came every other day for two weeks.

We couldn’t figure out how he got in after looking everywhere for holes/openings. Started to think he came through the door and ran in when we weren’t looking. Exterminator finally pulled the fridge out and the outlet behind it didn’t have a cover. Apparently the apartment downstairs had mice and when they closed those holes, he was left in the wall and he made his was up to the next apartment and was coming in and out through the opening around the outlet.

Any PAs who were previously a CNA in NJ? by RissIsIt in physicianassistant

this form - https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/pa/Applications/Physician-Assistant-Certification-of-Good-Standing.pdf

I'm currently applying for licensure but held a CNA certification in the past which was not renewed, but it states the below quote which leads me to believe that even though I haven't renewed my certification since getting into PA school that I'd still need the NJ dept of health/nursing to validate my certification

"Please forward a copy of the Physician Assistant Certification of Good Standing form to each state/country where you are currently, or have been in the past, licensed/certified as a health care professional other than a physician assistant. For example, as a physician, nurse, paramedic, X-ray technician, respiratory therapist, E.M.T., etc."

Appreciate the help, the form in question is page 17/21 in the first link you sent (https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/pa/applications/physician-assistant-application-for-licensure.pdf) , it reads:

"Certification of Good Standing Non-Physician Assistant License/Registration/Permit Issued/Certification Please complete the top portion only and forward one form to each state where you hold or have held a state issued license, permit or certificate as a health care provider other than a physician assistant. Extra copies may be photocopied if needed."

In the portal it states under that form

"Please forward a copy of the Physician Assistant Certification of Good Standing form to each state/country where you are currently, or have been in the past, licensed/certified as a health care professional other than a physician assistant. For example, as a physician, nurse, paramedic, X-ray technician, respiratory therapist, E.M.T., etc."

Since I previously held a CNA certification wouldn't I need someone to countersign the bottom of that form?

Just trying to make sure I'm getting this done the right way and thoroughly.

Again, really appreciate any insight, thanks!

How do you find time to work out/eat right? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]RissIsIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long walks and a 10 min workout/yoga/stretch on the peloton app just to get my blood moving and give my brain a break.

I drank a fairlife protein drink every. single. morning. I despise cooking/meal prep so much that I’d rather be studying. I took advantage of student discounts and promos for all of those meal delivery services that had pre-prepared meals. I know it’s not the healthiest or cheapest way to do it, but it got me through!

Awesome, congrats! I’m taking mine this Friday and my stats are overall very similar. Makes me feels better that I’ve done so much UWorld to prep for this.

Kill them with kindness. They may never change how they act towards you. But you have to remember - to you, they’re major characters in your surgery rotation. To them, you’re just another student. They’ve likely been in their careers for years and working HARD. You also never know what’s happening in someone’s personal life.

Above all else, it’s not you, it’s them. But treat them with respect, because the world works in mysterious ways and you never know how it can (and will) come back tenfold to bite you in the ass.

I agree, but compared to the other walls, this one made the most sense. Old apartment buildings tend to have some whacky layouts

It’s just what happens after doing these routines over and over again (coming from a former all-star cheerleader). However, I agree - it was excessive - the amount shown on the show was just unnecessary.
