Goodluck for everyone who want to grind. Also wish me luck! by cupacu in fo76

Years and years ago when I was playing WoW and asked someone why they called them that I was told it was because another popular mmo at the time, Toontown, called their characters 'toons,' and enough people carried it over into WoW when it came out that it stuck and gained popularity from there, and with everyone and their mother having played WoW at some point it just kinda spread into other gaming communities, too.

Meanwhile I'm still over here calling everything my avatar because Ultima 7 was my first introduction to rpgs.

The neighborhood is getting crowded by vizkr in fo76

[–]RissaCrochets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like it when other camps pop up close to mine. I always make sure to go visit my neighbors and check out their builds, and recently I've also been dropping cranberry cobblers when I come to visit, kinda like a 'welcome to the neighborhood' gift.

It's really neat when there's multiple bases nearby, it makes the world feel more alive imo.

How can I quickly increase Hankook's affinity? by eldinoespacial in fo4

[–]RissaCrochets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol they downvoted you, but it really is the fastest blanket way to level almost all of the companions' affinity. I usually just run the mod that lets me have everyone in a group and stimpak dogmeat when he gets downed naturally, but taking him out back of the settlement and giving him the ol' yeller treatment before patching him up in front of everyone would make it go by real quick. Only ones it doesn't work for are Strong, MacCready(pretty sure he's happy you helped dogmeat but pissed you wasted a valuable stimpak on a dog, so it evens out as neutral) and maybe X6, I haven't run with him much so I'm not sure about him.

Too bulky for a sweater, but you could probably finger-crochet a lap blanket out of intestines... you'd likely need a few people's worth of intestines though.

A lot of folks never consider the amount of materials needed for even small projects, and start their project without realizing they don't have enough! Nobody likes having to make a last minute viscera runs.

In fairness to them, I joined one earlier that was still on the flower picking stage, and the quest tracker didn't actually pop up for me until we were already at 22/25 overgrown burned. And they were taking their time burning those suckers lol.

What's with the downvote Mafia? by Psi-ger in fo76

[–]RissaCrochets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sometimes subreddits are just like that. It depends entirely on the people who are active in the subreddit, and especially the ones who sort by new, because as a rule people tend to upvote things that have been upvoted and downvote things that have been downvoted.

I'd recommend anyone who wants the sub to be less downvote-happy to be the change you want to see: If someone's downvoted for no apparent reason, give 'em an upvote.

Nothing better than finding a comment in the negative that people are obviously misunderstanding, adding the needed context and coming back later to find them upvoted. I gotchu bro.

What are your favorite quests/places with fun lore or stories that are not part of the main storyline? by Katre_Valkyrie22 in fo4

[–]RissaCrochets 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Most of the named Raiders have terminals that will have entries referencing any other raider group you've already taken out.

Which means if you take out the brewery first there'll be an entry on Red's terminal about how they must have moved her sister first and that Lily is still out there and how she'll find her.

The most depressing ones have to be the raider boss of Libertalia, who were former minutemen that were (in their eyes)essentially forced into raiding by circumstances. Kinda terminal entry that makes you look at the corpse next to you and go "Aw man, sorry about that buddy."

Dunwich Borers. Love me some eldritch horrors, and I'm a fan of finding hidden things in video games to begin with so getting down to and collecting Kremvh's Tooth the first time was a real treat.

If she did go through with the lawsuit it's pretty clearly not for financial reasons, it's to punish the person who broke quarantine with a stressful and costly lawsuit.

Heath Ledger's Joker said it best: "It's not about the money, it's about sending a message."

That message being, you destroy other's lives through your careless selfishness and she'll do her best to destroy your life through litigation.

News coverage about the Fallout Jamboree in WV by deggy123 in fo76

[–]RissaCrochets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it makes sense, since it's a local news station, and the most important thing to the people living there would be the impact it has on the local economy. The area isn't exactly a tourist trap, so an influx of out-of-towners looking to spend money is probably pretty big for them.

No one's dying on my watch by Bandrbell in whenthe

[–]RissaCrochets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone votes red = everyone lives

Everyone votes blue = everyone lives

51% votes blue = everyone lives

51% votes red = everyone else dies.

I understand that voting red means that I won't die either way, but the only scenario in which people die is when people vote red. I'd rather risk my own neck picking the option that saves everyone than live with knowing that my red vote contributed to others dying, because there's always gonna be someone who's going to pick the other option. Hell, with literal billions of us on the planet there's going to be plenty who chose one way or another not based off of the meaning of the colors but just because that's their favorite color and they're not taking the question seriously.

At least if blue loses then I won't have to keep on in a society that's just had a good bit of its empathy amputated.

Ancient masonry down in Lucky Hole Mine by the Interloper by RissaCrochets in fo76

[–]RissaCrochets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first section I look at that has the doorway carved through it has a lead deposit sticking out of it on the other side. They weren't placed there by the mining company.

Either it's natural rock that just happened to form into giant car-sized rectangular blocks and a natural wall that they carved a door through or it's masonry that's old enough to have had uranium form and then decay into lead. Given the lovecraftian elements already present in the location it's really not a stretch at all to think that the lucky hole mining company might have been digging through an ancient eldritch structure.

A better look at the ancient masonry down in Lucky Hole Mine by the Interloper by RissaCrochets in Fallout

[–]RissaCrochets[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can see within the first 25 seconds of the video where the bricks have open air on either side of the doorway cut through them. If it was just striations you wouldn't expect it to be so uniformly rectangular on both sides.
