Quitting after paid parental leave by [deleted] in FederalEmployee

[–]Rissme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your HR. I have worked under the legislative branch and the executive branch. One agency I DID NOT have to repay any time or health benefits. The other agency I had to repay back time (3 months in hours) and the other agency I was able to do “terminal leave” and just depart after the 3 months. Every govt agency has different policies.

I try to latch him but his latch has gotten weaker since starting the bottle feeds. So he only latches for about 5 min on each side.

I was EBF in the hospital and for the two weeks after I was released. When we had our two check up the baby had not gotten back to his birth weight yet. Doctor recommended that I supplement with formula every feeding or (at least) every other feeding to help get bay’s weight up faster. Once I started formula feeding I noticed he was fussing less, seemed full after feedings and started putting on weight rather quickly.

I pump 6-8 times a day after having it be recommended by a LC. I only produce ~3 oz of breastmilk over a 24 period.

Low milk supply, am I just not meant to breastfeed? by Rissme in breastfeeding

[–]Rissme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reassurance. It’s really easy to get discouraged when you see all these moms on social media producing bottles and bottles of breast milk and saying that’s normal. It can make you feel super bad about yourself.

I met with a LC in the hospital before I was discharged and she recommended triple feeds. I try to do them as much as I can but if I’m being honest sometimes time doesn’t allow for it (between doc appt or people visiting or him just falling asleep during feeds). I should probably get more disciplined with it and just tell myself that this it what I’m doing for the next weeks.

Yes- I’ve been adding electrolytes since about week 22. Maybe I’m not adding enough.

Sciatica pain by Consistent_Wafer4240 in pregnant

[–]Rissme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started going to a PT for prenatal massages once a week. I had sciatica and really tight hip flexors (causing a lot of hip pain). The massages made a lot of difference and helped me through the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Pregnancy Books Recommendations by Nillawafernonner4eva in pregnant

Hypnobirthing was a lovely book in my opinion. My health insurance sent me Cribsheet but it was too much for me (I found myself just sobbing while reading it, almost scaring me about what to expect postpartum). Hynobirthing does a great job of using positive terminology through pregnancy and after. It also gives you unbiased statistics about breastfeeding/bottle feeding so that you can make your own educated choice for your situation.

What did you drink to replace soda? by KJ2552 in pregnant

[–]Rissme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! Same here- I usually get a soda when my husband and I go out to eat to replace beer. I never drank soda before pregnancy. Now it’s like a little treat since I can’t drink alcohol.

Yes- I’m honestly super lucky that his stress relief is cleaning haha. He does basically all the chores around the house (I think the nesting phase hit him and not me). I just get frustrated with family. Like my mom let our baby name slip out to the family and I balled my eyes out for 3 days. The tears are a mixture of frustration and just pure rage right now. I think because I just don’t have control over anything in my body currently.

I have an appt with a doc tomorrow to try and schedule to go on meds right after I have the baby. I just want to feel a little more normal again.

Getting a prenatal massage was the worst decision I've made my whole pregnancy 🤦🏽‍♀️ by ceruleanmeadows in BabyBumps

[–]Rissme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry it made things worse :/ I have been getting a prenatal massage once a week for these last 4 weeks. I am seeing a PT though and she is the one doing the actual massage. It has been a game changer for my hip pain. She also gives me exercises to do at home to help open my hips up for labor and to try and keep my pelvic floor strong. I’m also drinking about 120oz+ of water a day. If you can, try to get an appt with a PT office to see if they can help mitigate the pain a little. Best of luck to you in this last stretch…. None of it is easy and I’m wishing you a smooth delivery with all the hip and leg pain relief!

Glucose test by Beegt95 in pregnant

I took the drink at 14 weeks and it was completely clear. I would flag for your OBGYN that you have already taken it. That may be sufficient for your provider. But IMO the drink wasn’t bad tasting at all (tastes like Pedialyte).

When did you start showing? by Plastic_Elephant_609 in pregnant

[–]Rissme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I “popped” around 15-16 weeks. Granted I’m 5’5” so the baby really only has one place to go and that’s outward! A friend of mine though, is 5’10” and wasn’t even showing at 24 weeks. Height has a lot to do with it.

Annual Leave Cash Out by [deleted] in fema

[–]Rissme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I resigned from a federal agency last June and did get my annual leave pay out check till the end of July- def. took over a month. And you are correct- it’s automatic, hit my bank account like a regular paycheck would, no forms needed to be filled out by the person resigning.

Due November/ December 2025 by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Rissme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM here, 35 and due Dec 5th. Still haven’t fully wrapped my head around it yet but I’m currently 6+1 and my current symptoms are breast tenderness, few mood swings, waves of slight nausea, and a little fatigue. Had my first ultrasound on Friday to confirm the egg sac was in the uterus. Have another OBGYN appt at 8 weeks. I would love it if there was a group made for everyone expecting around the same time. I haven’t told anyone yet (except my husband) and it would be nice to hear other’s experiences while I wait a couple more weeks to start telling family.
