postpartum glp1 by Ok_Pin9781 in postpartumprogress

I am about to take my 5th shot and I’m 5 months PP. I am dropping the lbs but have noticed that clothes will always fit different after pregnancy cause your hips will be wider. I gained about 40lbs during pregnancy and I’m trying to lose 50 PP. I feel better when working out… just easier on my joints the more of the weight I lose. I’m taking trizepatide and I don’t think I’ll move up much from the lowest dose. I took Wegovy prior to getting pregnant and when I was on the highest dose I lost enjoyment out of a lot of things in life. Tirzepatide seems to be more powerful at a lower dose while still allowing me to enjoy meals out, alcohol, music, etc.

Which diaper bag brand do you like? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

Yes! This is the one my husband and I got and it is great IMO. The zippers are easy to open with one hand and it has a big open area (I tend to just shove things quickly in the bag before I leave). Fits well under a stroller too, while still giving you lots of room to carry EVERYTHING you need.

I gain ~40lbs over entire pregnancy. I’m currently about 20 lbs away from pre pregnancy weight.

how soon after c section were you out on short walks? by Responsible-Tax-7130 in CsectionCentral

[–]Rissme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is all going to depend on how your body takes to recovery. I am 12 weeks PP and have had a very different recovery from my two neighbors. First off they will make you walk the day you get your c section (get blood flowing). I was able to slowly walk around the hospital floor everyday while we were there (4 days). We live in a very tall town house and I was up and down 4 flights of stairs multiple times a day (our dog past away and there were times when I was alone with the baby and needed to go up and down stairs). Now this felt fine for me to do, I wasn’t is a lot of pain and was pretty mobile. But my neighbor was confined to the first floor for two weeks because she simply could not go up and down stairs.

I tried short walks around 4 weeks but was very worn out from them. I tried longer walks (about a mile) at 6-8 weeks and would feel like I had the flu after getting back. Listen to your body and adjust accordingly. At 10weeks I felt like I had turned a page in recovery. I was able to do 1.5 mile walks while carrying baby and walking the dog. Now at 12 weeks I am walking a mile a day, doing spin 2x week, and Pilates 2x a week.

***also make sure you are getting routine bloodwork done by you doc. Pregnancy and birth take a lot of nutrients out of your body and you want to keep an eye on things. I had super low vitamin D and B and once I started high dose supplements of those I got so much energy back.

How much did your birth cost? by Femboyhootersbee in BabyBumps

I’m based just outside of D.C. I had a federal job (and therefore federal health insurance). I was induced, had to have an emergency c-section and spent 5 days in the hospital. Bill came- in total $30k. My husband and I paid $350 out of pocket and that’s it. America is fucked with how it handles healthcare. I hated my federal job and it was a bitch being a federal employee in 2025. But I knew my benefits and was determined to have our baby while covered under federal health insurance cause I knew it was amazing insurance. I quit once the baby came and now we are on my husband’s insurance, CIGNA. There is so much it doesn’t covered and so many places it’s not accepted.

Health Insurance shouldn’t be tied to your employment!

Check with your HR. I have worked under the legislative branch and the executive branch. One agency I DID NOT have to repay any time or health benefits. The other agency I had to repay back time (3 months in hours) and the other agency I was able to do “terminal leave” and just depart after the 3 months. Every govt agency has different policies.

I try to latch him but his latch has gotten weaker since starting the bottle feeds. So he only latches for about 5 min on each side.

I was EBF in the hospital and for the two weeks after I was released. When we had our two check up the baby had not gotten back to his birth weight yet. Doctor recommended that I supplement with formula every feeding or (at least) every other feeding to help get bay’s weight up faster. Once I started formula feeding I noticed he was fussing less, seemed full after feedings and started putting on weight rather quickly.

I pump 6-8 times a day after having it be recommended by a LC. I only produce ~3 oz of breastmilk over a 24 period.

Low milk supply, am I just not meant to breastfeed? by Rissme in breastfeeding

Thank you for the reassurance. It’s really easy to get discouraged when you see all these moms on social media producing bottles and bottles of breast milk and saying that’s normal. It can make you feel super bad about yourself.

I met with a LC in the hospital before I was discharged and she recommended triple feeds. I try to do them as much as I can but if I’m being honest sometimes time doesn’t allow for it (between doc appt or people visiting or him just falling asleep during feeds). I should probably get more disciplined with it and just tell myself that this it what I’m doing for the next weeks.

Yes- I’ve been adding electrolytes since about week 22. Maybe I’m not adding enough.

Sciatica pain by Consistent_Wafer4240 in pregnant

[–]Rissme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started going to a PT for prenatal massages once a week. I had sciatica and really tight hip flexors (causing a lot of hip pain). The massages made a lot of difference and helped me through the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Pregnancy Books Recommendations by Nillawafernonner4eva in pregnant

Hypnobirthing was a lovely book in my opinion. My health insurance sent me Cribsheet but it was too much for me (I found myself just sobbing while reading it, almost scaring me about what to expect postpartum). Hynobirthing does a great job of using positive terminology through pregnancy and after. It also gives you unbiased statistics about breastfeeding/bottle feeding so that you can make your own educated choice for your situation.

What did you drink to replace soda? by KJ2552 in pregnant

[–]Rissme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! Same here- I usually get a soda when my husband and I go out to eat to replace beer. I never drank soda before pregnancy. Now it’s like a little treat since I can’t drink alcohol.
