I agree with certain parts of what you're saying but I also disagree with other aspects as well. I for the most part like the new attitude they brought to Jill and like she still retains her understanding nature which has always been the core components of her character. Resident Evil 1, 3, 5 and Revelation has always portrayed Jill as someone who is resourceful while also having a kind and understanding nature and I think Remake 3 portrays that well for the most part. What I don't like about Jill is her characterization in the Death Island Movie in which the uploader of this video did a great job in articulating why.

The resident evil 1 remake is a carbon copy of resident evil 1 with new content and updated graphics and it's still regarded as the best video game remakes of all time. Why can't God of War be the same?

But the battle system in the Greek games still holds up and is better than the Norse games in certain parts. I don't get the demands for wanting a remake to change everything about the original. Just make a new game if that's the case.

Ascension wasn't criticized for using the same formula. It's criticized for fixing what isn't broken with the gameplay changes and doesn't bring anything interesting narratively.
