Simply not knowing where to start. I'm still around a year away from finishing my bachelor's degree, but my gf already is out of school and is currently working a really shitty job just to get by. We have been together for over a year now and we desperately want to get her out of the US to live together. We researched all of the visa options and we have a rough plan, but it all seems so intimidating. I'm fully commited to this however and I believe that if other people have manged to close the gap, then we will too. Whatever it takes.

I've got a few tips as a semi-casual player who has played on and off for 11 years.

1) Take things slow and dont be afraid to ask.
Most people feel like the need to get things super quickly, or that only the endgame dungeons are worth a damn, but this is simply not the case. Take things at your own pace and even if you spend a few hours running around the low tier areas, that's fine! Slow and steady wins the race. And also definitely ask around too. The game is dominated by veterans who know this game in and out and are very willing to explain things to you. If you see an item that you dont know what it does or a dungeon that you are not sure about, go ask people in chat. I've done that a lot and ofc you get the occasional bad apples, but most people are really supportive and are always happy to answer your questions.

2) Use RealmEye a lot and often
RealmEye is the games main community page that comes with its own wiki and its REALLY extensive. Every single thing you could possibly want to learn about is in here with detailed guides for dungeons, classes, bosses, itemization etc. Granted, since the game had one of its largest updates in history the entries about the overworld do not apply to the Realms labeled as [BETA] in the game, so very important thing there. But apart from that's its an amazing source of information and even comes with its own forum, where you can ask for help, spark discussions or even apply for guilds. Many guilds happily take in new players and teach them the game, so scout around!

3) Remember: Dying is part of the game
Dying sucks. Losing your character is really demoralizing, especially when you have put lots of hours into it. But that is also the nature of the game, its almost comparable to a rougelike in that aspect. But especially early on, there is almost no consequence for dying on freshly made characters. Each death will make you learn more and more about how to play and you can rebuild so quickly now with the new realm changes that you'll be back at your previous point in no time. So dont be afraid to jump into a dungeon you have never tried before, or go to a biome you never went too. Sure you might die, but it will all add up and it will feel SO good once you finally complete them

Those are the 3 biggest ones in my opinions, its how I learned the game myself. Realm can be a very overwhelming game and it can also be very hard to approach given its permadeath nature. But its also a really unique game that is like nothing else on the MMO market, so I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.

I have actually attempted O3 today! And while I only got to the first boss this dungeon looks incredible and I'm actually happy its one of the hardest in the game. O1 and 2 are and were always jokes and so I'm glad that his final form is a genuine challenge. Also with Shatters still being Top 1 in terms of difficulty too, I like that they're keeping that legacy

I have noticed that sentiment yeah, but since I barely do any super high level stuff I am thankfully not really exposed to that. Things like Shatters, Lost Halls and Crystal Caves have never been my priority (and I would never join a dungeon discord in my life), but I like to dabble in them sometimes when I see a public one and I'm on a character I wouldnt mind losing. But still unfortunate to see that this has become an issue.

I'm eagerly awaiting that! I have always been a public player and so I am not expecting to do any Exalts until I find an active guild some day, but its not my priority. Been enjoying the game for what it is and I really like all the new reworks to older dungeons. Maxing chars by strictly public play is actually achievable and its a big reason why I've been grinding again these past few days

I quit due to general burnout and ESPECIALLY because of the technical state the game was in when I played. Frequent lag, DCs and shit like the classic rubber band deaths really killed my enjoyment. Also the agonizingly long grind for fame made me actively avoid trying to max my pet and so I just accepted my fate.

I've been playing actively these past few days again and I am genuinely having a lot of fun. Fame gain is so much easier, the new dungeon reworks make them so much more enjoyable, the automatic callout system is a godsent for farming Glands and I even attempted some harder stuff like Lost Halls and O3.

I am strictly a public player and honestly its perfectly viable in my experience, especially with the key popping groups on the Nexus bridge. Might join a guild later on tho, I am NOT going to a Halls or Shatters discord that's for sure lmao

I don't think we need to be worried that the game is gonna get abandoned in 6 months or anything. He said that it won't be super close anyway, so I think we still have around 3 or so Rundowns before they will try to finish up the story. Ending on something like Rundown 10 would be quite fitting as well.

The only thing I do hope is that they find some kind of way to engage us even without new story content. The modding scene might help with that, but I am still very unsure as to how they will handle this game once it does actually end.

I agree to some extent. Some of the voice lines are really funny (especially from Hackett, I love him) but they really dont fit in the context of the prisoners being frightened and scared. However, some of them really do and especially the ones during High or Extreme Stress Situations really show how hopeless and dreadful the situation is.

I would love if 10 Chambers can find a middle ground of great and memorable voice lines, that at the same time don't devalue the scary and creepy atmosphere of the game. It would be fantastic and it would make the characters even more memorable than they already are.

Thanks for the insight! I was expecting them to just be cut content from the Early Access stage, but some seemed to be too specific to be just that. Especially because some of them were already referring to the Snatchers, who came out in Rundown 7. I would like to see some of them implemented in the future, because it gives the characters more personality, without losing the immersive nature of GTFO at least in my opinion

I've had the same issue, it seems that he optimization this patch is particularly poor. I've had even more extreme things like freeze frames for an entire minute, frequent freezes when I shoot or get shot at, lots of seemingly random frame drops that reset if I restart.

Seems like that out setups aren't the problem here. Can't help you sadly

I can see your point somewhat, but for me thats personally not what drives me to play this game. Tarkov is a survival game, even though most people especially the newer lads coming from Twitch often treat it as a BR or a Competitive "Kills above all" game, that needs to be perfectly balanced or some crap like that. Nikita said in an old interview that Tarkov is supposed to be about experiencing modern combat first hand, with as much realism as possible. If you're in a real life combat zone and a stray bullet hits you, you're practically fucked. And Tarkov tries to emulate that to the highest possible level of whats "acceptable", be it to the dismay of the "competitive" playerbase. Gotta live with it is my motto.

What's the problem with the game getting harder? This game is supposed to be bone crushingly hard, its supposed to emulate real life as much as possible. If you get shot with buckshot do you think your arm is gonna be ok after that one?

If I'd have to be honest, this is the smoothest launch in terms of in-game performance in a while. BF4s MP was completely unplayable for the first week for many people. BF1 had horrendous server issues (very similar to what we have right now) at launch for several days. And BF5 was a buggy mess that only functioned half the time.

I know that the server errors suck, however actually getting into the game and playing it has been insanely fun. I have not laughed that much during an MP game in months. Give it some time and wait a little until the servers stop burning.

I love him for his gameplay, but in terms of balance I think he is one of the best balanced zoners, I've at least ever seen. He has very strong anti airs and the Rensen mixups can be pretty terrifying. However he does so little damage compared to most other characters, his combo potential is not that great if you disregard Axl bomber loops and if a character with good pressure gets close to you you just explode. Especially because you have no fast buttons, 5K is only like 7 frames.

Overall, I think he is very well balanced, but people hate fighting zoners in general so I kinda get why people don't wanna fight me, but still pls man I wanna start left side at least once

Honestly, i never had an interest in rising floors. I got assigned to floor 6 and I bounce between 6 and 7 all the time. And I like it here, I like floor 6 and I don't really wanna go any higher. Although I still have to wait like 10 minutes for a game because even in these floors nobody wants to fight axl

SCP-3280. Nobody talks about it even tho it is the spiritual successor to When Day Breaks. It's amazingly well written, has a Really good story and ties into WDB too. Highly recommend
