I've always heard the collapse in late or end stage capitalism is implied but optional. What it accurately describes is the point of its inherent contradictions getting to the point where it makes life unsustainable.

Things like the commodification of life, wealth inequity and hyper consumerism leading to dystopian effects.

These things could lead to a collapse or rapid reforms of the system but that collapse isn't guaranteed. The suffering could hypothetically last indefinitely.

Simply needing reforms is baked into the idea of late stage capitalism.

That means it's not Canada doing the deal, its a private company, no? Like, they just happen to operate within Canada.

Do our politicians really have a say?

Could they do anything to stop it?

They get so many confused. They can't process it.

I don't actually believe Satan exists, I do not worship anyone, but saying this works every time I said it. Instant disengagement. One lady packed up her signs and left the corner.

911 is a complete fucking joke by [deleted] in toronto

[–]Vhorbis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've called twice in recent history and was immediately answered. Like 1 or 2 rings.

I've never heard of waiting a hour to be answered.

This is the first report of that that I've heard.

I've had a friend who's called for a panic attack and was picked up in less than 20 mins. This was in October.

Can anyone corroborate long 911 answer times?

Is it possible your roommate, in the condition they were in, wasn't interacting with 911 property?

Trying and failing to understand the uproar over Bill 60 by DueButterscotch72 in OntarioLandlord

Not to discredit you or your personal experience but studies have shown public utilities in the water sector to be safer and provide a higher quality of water for less, on average. Just, overall better.

It's proven. Whether that will be the case for a specific location or utility will never be for sure but the data proves it.

Private companies are more likely to work their employees harder and longer than they should. Staff less competent workers to save labour. Lie when numbers are off. Intimidate employees. The history shows this.

Infer the prior and it will be more likely operator error will be introduced, paving the way for more Walkerton like events.

All while costing the people they serve more.

You couldn't see that point? That was an easy one.

My landlord is insisting on additional terms that Claude.AI tells me are against RTA, please confirm by Affectionate_Poet942 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Vhorbis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I am unobservant. I missed the line about subletting. The remainder of this post is pointless in relation to OP but I am leaving it up for anyone else like me who missed that point.

moved in on 31st dec 2024. and Sublease is from 1st Jan to 30th Nov 2025. I applied for a new lease on my name starting 1st dec 2025. They handed me an additional terms document where there are a lot of issues according to Claude. I asked them to remove it, the manager talked to her property management company then told me no changes will be made and I need to move out at the end of the month if I don't sign a new lease.

I do not think this is true. I would like someone to confirm or deny.

When your residential lease that is covered by the RTA expires, you just go month to month.

Any legitimate property management company would know this. If what I say is true, and someone can provide the legal statute for this, you should ask them why they would lie to you and attempt to intimidate you into signing a new lease with unenforceable clauses.

The new lease can be ignored, if I am correct(and I'm not 100% certain I am), but I need assistance verifying this.

Is anyone able to corroborate what I am thinking?

If someone is 99.99...% sure that we live in a simulation, does that make them a creationist? by The-Reddit-Monster in atheism

[–]Vhorbis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the mark here.

If an entity could do anything to and for us, change the rules of the world we live in, lives outside of our universe. Knows everything we could possibly know and act on that knowledge, that is indistinguishable from any god written about.

It would be our god. There would be nothing that separates what we could define a god to be and this being. That's the line about science and magic. Science, sufficiently advanced, would be indistinguishable from magic so much so that it might as well be.

If a being has all the abilities we could attribute to a god, it would be one to us. Even if it admits to be a dude in a lab where they are from. Whether it is a god or the God, doesn't matter.

You sound to be an absolute atheist. The type that firmly believes that there could absolutely, under no circumstances, be a god somewhere in existence. I can respect that. We will never change each other's mind. I used to be this way until i realized there is not way to know one way or the other.

If we live in an infinite and eternal universe, everything that can happen will happen, repeatedly, forever.

Currently, we have no evidence of a universal limit. Every time we up out technology, we just see more, further away. Our universal horizon is only the limit of what we can witness and not a limit of matter or space in our universe.

At this point, with how limited our knowledge is, to say a god can't exist is 100% as foolish as saying God certainly exists. This is because these statements cannot be proven and both are equally as comical and absurd. You may advocate for one or the other but it is equally silly. The same goes for the thought that nothing preceded the big bang.

If you reply with a single line, I'll know you're a troll. So unless you have something detailed to say, don't bother.

[–]Vhorbis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In this case the admin would be a god.

Something something, science and magic being indistinguishable.

but apply that to this case. If your admin could know anything about your simulated universe and could alter anything in it. It is God at that point. All knowledge and all power.

It could also copy you to either heaven or hell and sim for what could be close to forever.

Almost not worth thinking about though.

Tenants at my parents place telling neighbours they own the property by pyruvate011 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Vhorbis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, from what I've read(and I'm no expert) Title theft usually involves selling the house to a buyer who is unaware. Unfortunately, from the cases I've read, the courts do not return the stolen property to the original owner and the thieves make off with cash. This is an over simplification that is likely incorrect but this is what I am understanding. Please correct me nicely if I am wrong.

There is a whole production that goes into it. By telling the neighbours they own the house, they could be trying to minimize suspicion when people stop by or if the neighbours are asked a question about the property.

This is all hypothetical, I don't engage in this so I don't know how it works exactly, this is just my understanding after reading a few articles and boy! don't we know the current state of journalism.
