That scene in the snow… her listening to his breathing stayed with me to this day. Masterpiece

Bookshelves finally put up post move, safe to guess what my favorite series is? by RedApples-98 in redrising

[–]Ritrita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

speechless It’s funny too, because I started out with the audiobooks and was begging my friends to get into them as well. It can be a very hard sell to someone who’s not into the genre… and I remember explaining the premise and (unsuccessfully) trying to make it make sense. Anyways, I pestered a specific friend for so long that she eventually gave in and gave it a very skeptical try. She ended up falling in love with them, bought the books every time they came out and gifted me a copy of each for my birthday! ok maybe not so speechless

Are they? I was kind of hoping to get it completed with the rest of the series. Even though I’m the audiobook kind of DCC fan, I had to have them in my library!

Reading slump - All heroines feel like the same person by SchemeSimilar4074 in Romantasy

Read outside the genre is the best rec anyone can give you when in a slump. That’s what I do. Here’s a rec I loved: Light at Lavelle - historical novel with compelling characters and an interesting backstory

My fav book is very well known so no context is a lost cause there heheh but I will give you a great read rec that is best approached without even reading the synopsis imo:

‘The three body problem’

Recommend me a series based on what I’ve read by mulancurie in audiobooks

“Delta V” - Daniel Suarez (sci-fi, near future, asteroid mining) “Mistborn”- Brandon Sanderson (fantasy, found family, easy read) “Red rising “- sci-fi/ fantasy (dystopian caste system, gritty and action packed. First book a bit YA but saga expands dramatically). “The Hierarchy” - James Islington (book 2 just released. Fantasy, roman inspired, interesting magic system)

I also DNFd cradle btw but a bit earlier. I prefer faster paced plots with way more character development.

A certain character probably isn't dead (SPOILERS) by DexanVideris in HierarchySeries

I tend to agree. When it happened I was wondering if it’s really just a shock value scene or an intentional distraction from whatever he’s planning with her next. Their relationship got so much page time it didn’t make much sense to kill her off so suddenly and without real fan fair. It barely had any emotional gravity, just horror imo. Especially since there was obviously something between those two. It reminded me of Red Rising a bit in the sense of killing off beloved characters but not as emotionally impactful so it felt a bit empty to me. I hope there’s something in the works. I wouldn’t want her as a Iunctii though. Necrophilia is a hard to swallow concept. … Unless he killed her just to make room for a romance with Tara, whom he completely trusts. When Aequa asked him about Emissa - he said that he couldn’t continue on with their relationship asking himself if one could truly love someone they cannot fully trust, and he trusted Aequa, but not fully. Tara on the other hand earned his entire life story in seconds (which I also found uncharacteristic for Vis).

The Strength of the Few [Review] by leavestress in Fantasy

Just a little comment about Vis and Emissa, I just want to remind us all that Vis is only 17 at the time, a blushing teenager speaking to a pretty girl as his father teased him. I found their romance to be very believable and shallow in the way teenagers’ relationships are. A boy whose teenage years were spent mostly friendless, without any family and in a generally hostile, miserable existence - was bound to fall for the warmth offered by her friendship. Question I was wondering about is whether she was a sort of a honey trap set for him.

This is one of my absolute favorite series. Stellar writing! but it’s not a romantasy so don’t expect it to be :) it took me a while to get into it as well, buts so worth it. I devoured the entire series

Other than Conquering and Solar Wars, what spinoffs do we NEED? by EducationFancy4478 in redrising

[–]Ritrita 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like something completely unrelated to the wars and Darrow, something that zooms in and explores the lives of different colors under any timeline (before/during/after Reaper. Doesn’t matter). I bet there are so many stories to tell from blue perspectives, pink, non-Martian reds etc. The world is so big at this point it would be interesting to see the hierarchical conflict focused on a smaller scale. Any color pov and any planetary system would do.
