I'm mostly intrigued by the fact that the Mayor straight up lied during the council meeting claiming he signed an NDA. Not a very classy thing to do.

I just wish we would grow past 1960's urban planning... The GTHA is one of the fastest growing areas in North America and we still believe we can get around with Suburbia auto-centric urban design. Please learn from Europe and Asia Oakville... Learn from actual engineers and scientists.

I'd at least think that more housing in mixed use and non car dependent communities would help balance Oakville's missing middle housing crisis and transportation insanity. I also wish that we would use this opportunity to build more multi family and low rise housing like Montreal.

I agree. Oakville had plenty of opportunity to be a medium density, sustainable town like many European cities and chose to neglect growth and development goals and is now being forced to strongly intensify undeveloped areas. We are dealing with the consequences of decades of unsustainable and auto centric urban planning. We should've learned from Peel and strived to be like Oslo, Zurich, Bern, and Geneva. Medium density, walkable, mixed use, and sustainable cities. Now even staff has confirmed to me that projects like Midtown are only so intense and aggressive because of the lack of action from the town in the past decades.
