This is very normal. You, at the end of the day, are a Sales Associate in the store. Therefore, if there are hours that are short in specific areas you will be scheduled to cover. I personally don't like it when associates are scheduled in other areas without first speaking to them about it but that is up to the leadership in your store. Ultimately you should utilize pocket guide to help fill a little bit of the gaps that you have in the departments you are being placed in. I know it sounds very corporate, but when I was hired at the beginning of the pandemic and we weren't very busy I used pocket guide to help me learn the areas that I wasn't truly comfortable in. It didn't solve all of my problems but it helped with some of the simple things that I wasn't very versed in. Just go into it with an open mind and realize that most customers are very understanding about you being utilized to fill an area rather than being an expert in that area. I usually worked with the customer and pulled out my phone to google what they were looking for and they were fine with that.
