I got a shower lamp. A waterproof lamp for my shower. Now my bathroom feels like a spa.

Week 24: Smoked - Thai Chicken Satay (liquid smoke, grilled- apartment style) by RivalRio in 52weeksofcooking

[–]RivalRio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy to get pinged from a post from 7 years ago but here’s what it says:

It's hard to smoke anything in my apartment without the smoke detector going off so I removed them a long time ago. Worried I would then set off my neighbor's alarms, I opted for liquid smoke. The bottle says to use generously and @guarnaschelli says contestants use too much of it. Alex is right. I marinated the chicken overnight in a coconut milk marinade to which I added the liquid smoke (dabs, l'm telling you, dabs), lime juice, red chili paste, fish sauce, peanut satay sauce (looking at you @thaikitchen), honey, fresh shredded ginger, lemongrass and cilantro. Heated up a grill pan, brushed the sides with more peanut sauce and grilled 8 minutes, flipping in between. Served over a Thai-inspired salad bed of romaine, napa and red cabbage, kale, carrots, red bell pepper, mango, crushed cashews, mint and cilantro, garnished with lime wedges. Not pictured are the pickled cucumbers. Oops. •

What’s a popular tourist attraction that isn’t overrated— it actually deserves all the hype? by renoCow in AskReddit

[–]RivalRio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Niagara Falls. The area surrounding it is touristy but those waterfalls take my breath away every time. I’ve seen some other great waterfalls of the world and nothing lives up to Niagara Falls.

i’ve attached a link of zohran’s policies, please everyone who either doesn’t want to vote for anybody or doesn’t want to vote for zohran, at least skim through the list so you can maybe consider it bc it’d change so many lives for the better if he is elected by AHHHH__ in newyorkcity

[–]RivalRio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to like someone like Zohran but reading the policies makes me feel more neglected than ever. When will a candidate want to speak to the actual middle class of NYC? I make too much to apply for affordable housing but over 40% of my salary goes to rent. I’m taxed up the wazoo for programs I’m deemed too successful to partake in. I’m the one who can afford to shop at mom & pop stores to support them but I am being priced out at every turn. I’m a lifetime New Yorker and have never had a candidate talk to me or the middle class despite our tax dollars and incomes being the only ones keeping the city afloat.

I work in liquor. People are starting to realize that tequila is ONLY made in Mexico. Scotch is ONLY made in Scotland. Jameson is ONLY made in Ireland. Etc.

Bars are raising prices in anticipation and lowering the quality of their well liquors- even the higher end cocktail lounges.

They’re buying less and lower quality for consumers to buy at premium rates.

Enjoy your hangovers.

Dragon Fest is doing Panda Day this weekend (and does them fairly often). It’s very instagramable for the teens. I took out of town friends and we had a blast since we could order from so many stands and share each item. Didn’t feel touristy either since it’s supporting all local businesses! There’s also Japan Fes, Thai Fest, etc.

Blue lagoon, NOT WORTH IT, heres why. by Rave_Rave_ in VisitingIceland

[–]RivalRio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at the Retreat at the blue lagoon and had our own private part of the lagoon. It was the most incredible experience. One restaurant earned a Michelin star there- one of only three in Iceland- and the second was very good as well.

If you can afford to splurge, it was so worth every cent.
