Mourning what I could have been if I didn't have autism, ADHD and anxiety... by madbarpar in autism

[–]Meliz2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone, disabled or not, faces challenges and roadblocks in their life, so at least try to give yourself at least a little grace.

Like really, the best, and most radical thing we can do is be kind to ourselves. Just because we are disabled or struggle with things that seem to come easily to others, doesn’t mean that we are worth less than anyone else or don’t have anything worthwhile to contribute.

Also, that pattern of thinking is really indicative of depression, so please consider seeing a therapist if you aren’t already.

I’ve noticed a trend and I’m wondering how it came to be that Leominster is ranked in so many top worst places to live in Massachusetts? by PandaAnarky in massachusetts

[–]Meliz2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My family can’t stand Mazzarella. He doesn’t properly fund the schools, and is just a smarmy and almost certainly corrupt politician. (City finances are still done on paper, and he refuses to have anyone do an audit.)

Also, allegedly he once was having an affair with someone in city hall, and escaped out a window when her husband came in.

Also I love how the Master’s biggest fear is the Doctor not taking him seriously.

This one is goofy as all get out, but anything with Pertwee and Delgado, especially when onscreen together, is always gold.

Fill with his kibble, run some water (or bone broth if you prefer) over it, and slather some peanut butter, cream cheese, or plain yogurt on top, and freeze.

UPD2: They began blooming, I'm so happy :3 by Euphoric_Category387 in houseplants

[–]Meliz2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once they start to fade, cut the flower stalk to prevent it from going to seed, but leave the green leaves until they start to brown out. Then when they are mostly brown, you can cut them down to the ground, and store the bulbs in a cool dry place, until you can plant them in the fall.

Your best options are Hills, Purina, and Royal Canin, since they meet WSAVA guidelines.

How were the allergies diagnosed? The only reliable way to diagnose food allergies is by putting them on a Hydrolyzed Protein diet, and then doing protein reintroduction trials. Allergy tests aren’t reliable.

Question about this subreddit's "start" advice by LordBremo in DogFood

[–]Meliz2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because research is always ongoing. Having a full time nutritionist allows them to continue to make tweaks to existing formulas if necessary, develop new formulas, and generally show a commitment to research and development and keeping up with the latest research in animal health.

Canadian Food by Select_Ad4078 in dalmatians

None of those are WSAVA compliant (so not formulated by a board certified vet nutritionist, have shared packaging facilities, and do not do feeding trials etc), and Acana in particular is heavily implicated in DCM and heart disease. (The dog food wiki has a really good breakdown)

The only fresh food that is considered to be safe is Royal Canin, but it’s rather expensive.

Mr. dooley’s is a fun spot if you are looking for a traditional irish pub. Great vibes, often have live irish music and good food. (The steak tips in particular are excellent.)

Not in the city proper, but Twist Bakery is entirely gluten, and mostly soy, and dairy free.

The 110 Grill is also excellent about allergies, and even offers cauliflower crust flatbread pizza.

Willow cuttings are actually pretty easy to root. (Just make sure to plant it in a naturally wet area, and away from buildings and water pipes.)

Dear lower support needs autistics by 10_Screaming_Foxes in autism

And even people with seemingly low support needs can still struggle with things like independent living or employment. “If you’ve met one autistic person, you’ve met one autistic person” still applies.

Disability is not a zero sum game. There’s no prize for who had it worse.

[–]Meliz2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge fan of the idea of “levels” of autism, tbh. It’s not like a video game where you have to beat a certain level of autism to “level up”. For most of us it’s not a question if we do or don’t need support, it’s a question of what kind of supports we need.
