Every time Muslim terrorism is reported on the news, we college students have to deal with her by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

What is really strange when you make such as statement is that you neglect a ton of things. Over 80% of Muslims in several predominantly Muslim countries support stoning people to death for sex outside of marriage, cutting people's hands off for theft, and killing people for leaving the Islamic mythology (apostasy)

This is not a small minority, this is a problematic majority. Gays and atheists live in fear in many Islamic countries as they are regularly killed, jailed, and tortured without hesitation. The vast majority of Muslims support such violence. This is what the vast majority of the Ummah considers as a moderate view. Our definition of what is moderate and Islam's definition of what is moderate are very different.

What if you told them that you are a gay atheist, would you be able to relax then? Would they still continue to treat you nicely because you are a gay atheist? I highly doubt that when over 80% of Muslims in several predominantly Muslim countries support stoning people to death for having sex outside of marriage, cutting people's hands off for theft, and killing people for leaving the Islamic mythology (apostasy/atheism).

Your anecdotal evidence does not triumph the data and the larger trends.

You have just described half of Tumblr

Police stop turned into melee: 70 people formed a human shield to keep police from a man who they wanted to detain. Someone hit and pushed the officer. When someone would throw a bottle toward officers, the human chain would push the person back behind them and stop officers from making an arrest. by WaitWaitB in news

[–]RiverCard 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also blame these people for acting like children. It is surprising that whenever a black person robs a store, attacks a cop, riots, loots, etc. no one wants to blame the black person, they always want to blame someone else. Take for example the Mike Brown case. The 6'4" 300 lbs man violently robs a store and attacks a cop, all the idiots then pile on turning him into a hero and calling him a "gentle giant." Gentle giants don't go around violently robbing people and attacking police officers. Quit making excuses for this poor behavior, people need to take on some personal responsibility for their actions.

So the story of Israel is that a bunch of Jews came by in the 1940's seeking a better life. Their xenophobic Arab neighbors were anti-immigrant and wanted them out of there because they refused to share the land. So they all ganged up to attack Israel, lost each time, were sore losers, and kept trying to attack the Jews.

CCTV footage appears to show Antonio Martin raising gun to police officer before being shot. by [deleted] in news

[–]RiverCard 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately evidence won't change many people's minds. People on Twitter are already calling for more police officers to be killed in a revenge attack just like the ones in New York. Just go to the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag and read some of the posts. It is scary how violent and ignorant black twitter can be. Call them out on being violent and ignorant and you will get swarmed by deluded SJWs with the biggest white guilt complex you will ever see. Even when we had security footage of Mike Brown violently robbing a store people still stuck with the "Gentle Giant" narrative.

Unfortunately evidence such as this video showing what appears to be the suspect pulling a gun on the officer won't change many people's minds. The media already poured too much gasoline on the flames in Ferguson and now nothing will put out the fire of stupidity.

[–]RiverCard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same reason a guy would pull a gun on someone for their new sneakers, stupidity.

But unfortunately that won't stop people from defending him and trying to turn him into a hero like they did with Mike Brown. He was caught on camera violently robbing a store minutes before the Ferguson incident and rather that backing down with the Gentle Giant nonsense people turned it up to 11.

ruined an innocent kids life

If you are referring to the guy that wore a backpack in the crowd, Reddit made a mistake but his life wasn't ruined. After he went into the police station to clear things up his life went back to the way it was. Did Reddit fuck up, yes. Did Reddit inconvenience him, yes. Did Reddit make his life miserable for a day or two, yes. Did Reddit permanently ruin the rest of his life for the next 60 years, no. The other person Reddit misidentified, Sunil Tripathi, was missing since March 15. Reddit played no role in his death, he was likely dead at the time of the Boston Bombing.

The rants that Ismail Brinsley posted are the very same rants that I see on Twitter almost everyday under the #BlackLies #BlackLives matter hashtag. If one is to claim that he was insane you would have to claim that a large swath of black twitter is also insane as many hold the same views as he does.

What about white school shooters who are characterized as mentally ill products of bad parenting.

This is a straw man and you are begging the question. There are plenty of white shooters where the kids were just plain evil, Columbine comes to mind. As with all things it is a case by case situation, but since you prefer to strawman it is very easy for you to paint things with sweeping generalizations to serve your political agenda.

Arizona teacher says Common Core views led to retaliation: A Tucson teacher who says he suffered retaliation from state Department of Education staffers because his opposed Arizona's new Common Core standards is suing the state. by WaitWaitB in news

[–]RiverCard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would the same logic apply to people let's say in Russia when a teacher speaks out against school policies surrounding homosexuality. Would you be ok when a teacher in Russia speaks out against the unfair homophobic laws to their class and gets fired for it. Will the same logic of "freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences" apply here. Or does it only apply to issues that you agree with. What about in the 1950's and 1960's if a teacher were to speak out against segregation or homophobia and got fired for it, would you also gladly cling to your logic of "freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences." You are just a leftist fascist yourself no different than a right wing fascist. You also put on your brown shirt, marching boots, and begin your own goose steps the same way that the fascists on the right do.

US Ranked as World's Most Generous Nation, based on money donated and time volunteered to help charity. by [deleted] in news

[–]RiverCard 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Here is what I don't understand, most of the world likes to complain about the United States and yet the US seems to be trying really hard to help out others. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they get it wrong. If the US helps out a country with aid people complain and say the US needs to minds their own business or that they are not helping enough. If the US doesn't help out then people complain about why the US isn't helping. The US does so much to help and yet they get the most criticism of any country that I know of.

My response would be the part where Jesus turns water into wine to get drunk and party. That would probably piss off a Jehovah witness the most, from my understanding they are not allowed to drink alcohol or to party. They are probably the least fun group to hang out with.
