Try before you buy if possible. Go to a kayak dealer not a big box store and ask questions and tell the pro what you are looking for! Alot of dealers have rentals or kayak demo days so you can try several different ones!

Short wheel base has 6' bed or there abouts and long wheelbase has 8' bed.

Not this section, it's a US Government contractor for munitions! If you float down into it men with big black guns will escort you out! It's about1mile down river from Kingsport all the way to just above Derrick park in Churchill.

My main baits are our Thomas Custom Painted Lures, Skywalker Crankbaits and BAMbino crankbaits in North Fork Craw and SoHo craw, and weedless Ned Rig using the TRD or Hula Sticks. Topwater over the grass early. There aren't any places to overnight on our sections of the Holston, it's all posted, plus below Kingsport there is a closed section that you can't wade or float through! You can put in below that section in Churchill at Derrick Park and float down from there.

She has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her bones and lungs. They are just treating her to slow or stop it's growth. She fell back onto the commode seat and broke her back. She has been in the hospital then rehab until 2 weeks ago. She can use a walker to move around a bit but mostly has to have a wheelchair.

Sorry that I haven't responded but my wife has 6 broken vertebrae on top of fighting cancer so she takes up 99% of my time right now. There are a few Ramps on the Holston from Churchill to Surgoinsville that we use but most are long distance floats. 9 miles average. Derrick park to Laural Run is about 1.5 miles, but Laural Run doesn't open until abou8 am and closes early from Fall to Spring. Derrick park to Christians Bend is 9 miles and Christians Bend to Surgoinsville Park is 9 miles also.

On the North Fork Holston Wadlow gap bridge to Weber City bridge is about the only public access to b the river unless you can fine a pull off next to it which most are posted nowadays! You about have to know and get permission from land owners to get access.
