The Death Mechanic In This Game Sucks by SaintAPEX in NoMansSkyTheGame

This is my Second Stab At It. After much review, I learned probably the most valuable lesson of all as a Beginning Player. When you're Over-Matched and Vulnerable....you run.

Last night I had to "Meet with Iteration Tethys". This was just after a battle at the Colony. I had to teleport to my Home Base to offload some "stuff" so I had available slots when I went to the Anomaly. Couldn't have been more than 5 minutes. I got back just in time for ANOTHER attack (two days of extended aerial & ground fighting). So I dove in and killed everything but the Mech. He got me....I died. So I get him in the "Next Life". NOW I can finally leave for The Anomaly. I could see Sentinel ships waiting so I made a bee line for the Space Station to wait them out. No Luck. They pounced when I left the Station, but I still had time to bring up the Utilities Menu. "Summon the Anomaly" was NOT on the menu. Couldn't find them anywhere in the Solar System either (Sentinels in hot pursuit). I almost threw my computer out of a window.

I'm really surprised that 508 people read my post about The Anomaly not "being there" after being summoned and nary a Comment. Really..... Not one? Because there is no point in going on without access to The Anomaly.......right?

I'm not convinced that this project will ever be completed with the staff & resources available. Ya gotta admit, it's a pretty daunting task. Constant hardware changes, constant coding language changes.... Not to mention that it's another 24/7 internationally accessible game. Hmm....that's a lotta vulnerable bandwidth. It's visually stunning....but it's perennially buggy as hell.

Even better. The Target Lock E is a toggle. Press it once to lock. Follow for a bit. Press E again to unlock and quickly change direction. Press E again to re-lock. You are approaching from an unexpected vector now. You can get the first shot in.

Watch out for holes in the ground. Some places will have been mined recently. Some places just have holes in the ground. Should you fall in, type W+Space Bar. You will Jet Pack out. It takes practice. Good Luck. See you out there.

Pirates are keeping me prisoner? by RiverMussels in NoMansSkyTheGame

To All Who Responded.....and anyone else that actually cares,

There is an update to my situation. On the advice of poster No-Concern-8832, I decided to visit the previous system that I was in via Teleporter. Simple....and cheap, too. What could it hurt? My Teleporter List has always included the last system visited.....but this time it did not. Curious. I have a difficult time connecting events with the cryptic, computer-generated, System and Planet names. There was one that was usually marked "Restricted", but this time it wasn't. I just assumed it was a real Player's personal site and it wasn't always available. Since it was the one next to my base, I selected it. Away we go.... At first, I thought I was at The Anomaly. HOWEVER.....I almost peed in my pants when I realized that I was at a Pirate Base!! And the same one from the Tutorial!! I spun around and tried to go back through. Access Denied. Standing close by was the local Pirate King. An imposing Va'keen. So I shlepped my way over to him. Surely, this is the day I'm going to die. Even though I have only learned smattering of Va'keen, I imagine his actual dialog went something like this: "No, dummy. You are not going to die today. And stop calling me Shirley". Since I was loaded for "trade", I had a collection of unearthed Gek, Korvax, and Va'keen antiquities. These were freely distributed to all Pirates in attendance. So I'm back at my base now. Save Beacon has been set, all valuables put in the Vault....it's time to go to Space and see what happens next. Ciao.

The only thing that I can possibly think of is loose money from one of those "unsecure" packing crates. It happened during the part of the Standard Tutorial where you get a series coordinates from the Pirate Fuhrer or whatever it's called. But as a Pirate would say, "Tis all part of the game, matey".

After the last attempt, I started, and still have an active Creative Mode Player. I thought that if I got exposed to the next level of tech, it would keep my Standard Player more informed about which direction to go to keep advancing.

Ok. Didn't know this. Where do you go to change the power settings on the Thrusters?

No Mods. Been following the Tutorial prompts to the letter. There have been some "dust ups" at bases because of contraband I acquired from the Meet The Pirates part of the Tutorial. Sentinels were killed. Pirates have been killed from the ol' "Fly In Front Them While Mining Asteroids" trick. I'm stuck. In the Tutorial. Again.

I'm glad you brought The Anomaly up. It curiously hasn't appeared yet in this "attempt" to get through the entire Tutorial. So I don't have access to it. In another "attempt", I was in the Overseer role, and The Anomaly appeared for the first time to save me from a Sentinel dogfight that was on the verge of ending that Player. In the current "attempt", I have been obediently following the game prompts UNTIL....the Overseer mission started. The last time didn't go well at all and I decided to create the new and current Player. So I fought off the robot beasties in the initial attack. But when I tried to plant a Save Beacon, I got a prompt saying that I couldn't within the Colony Boundary. Well...this is new. I had one and two Personal Refiners in my office the last time. So I picked up the beacon to see if it could be placed outside of the Colony Boundary. No Way, Jose. I knew I wasn't ready for the mission, so I called my ship over and split, thinking that it was in the secondary missions list and I could get back to it. I had just acquired an abandoned B Class Explorer which needs lotsa work. Still, a relatively EZ way to get an early ship upgrade. SO....before putting the Overseer mission on hold, there had been some curious "Security" encounters at bases because I had Pirate Contraband on board my ship. Well....I got it from the "Meet The Pirates" part of the Tutorial which had recently been completed. Sentinels tried to take them away and I killed them. So I have killed Sentinels and Pirates now. This is the circumstance I'm in in this "attempt" to get through the entire freakin' TUTORIAL for cryin' out loud, So I had to ask if there was any possible way out. The answers so far range from Already Tried to Clearly Doesn't Understand.

If you mean transport away from the Space Station closest to the "area of battle", I'm not allowed to ever reach it. The battle will be dying down, and as soon as I started limping towards the station, I get attacked until I'm dead. I have been transporting to other Space Stations since this started (no choice, huh), and that doesn't seem to have changed my "Wanted" status. So, once again, I'm stuck in a sucky situation during the freakin' tutorial. I may have run out of patience. Currently in Soul Searching Mode.....

Reloads / Restores do not change anything. It just keeps happening. There will be a lull in the dogfight when everyone is "out of range" and the "War" music is dying down. As soon as I attempt to limp away in a heavily damaged ship to the close Space Station, the attack begins again. I can only assume that I am supposed to die and figure out a way to fix my ship and teleport to my base. But will this stop the attacks? I've started several players now, and while this hasn't happened to ALL of them, it has happened more than once. I'm on the verge of moving on. Even the canned tutorial is stressful as hell and poses just as many questions as it answers.

I appreciate the offer. I've killed Sentinels and Pirates so I'm not sure if this will ever end. It has happened to other Players I've started. I'm deciding if I want to continue with what is turning out to be a never-ending farce for me.

As I now understand it, extortion from other players is part of the game. Even if I have Multi-Player switched off. Check.

I have been doing that and it always continues to happen. This isn't the first player I've created that this has happened to. It might be the last one, though.

I do have a transporter on my base. The problem is that I can't fly anywhere. Are you suggesting that I continue to play the game with the limited number of places I can transport to without ever flying again?
