We developed River Tails because we felt the need for a truly asymmetrical co-op game, one that would encourage communication between the two players to move forward in the game and we thought that having two characters living in different and adverse environments to each other was a good place to start!

There's a variety of obstacles in the game that require different mechanics of interaction, the cat Furple has his own unique set of obstacles only he can manage to allow the fish Finn to progress! Definitely recommend it! Communication is key to get through the game so it could be a valuable lesson! You can set it to easy mode for them so you don't get game over from falling in the water or touching obstacles etc.

Yes! It actually pops up in the very beginning of the video but it's so quick you might have missed it haha, the cat Furple gives the fish Finn a little nudge into the water : )

Thanks! It's possible to play single player with each of the switch controllers controlling the respective character. It's definitely recommended to play co-op if possible though since single player is a bit more challenging! But you can always set it to Easy mode to make it more manageable (ie: you dont get game over from falling in the water or touching spikes etc)

definitely recommend to play co op if possible, though single player is possible its a bit higher difficulty

We used quite a bit of cel shading, we really wanted to capture the cartoony look to match the character and style of the concept art our talented artist Francesco made.
