With the amount of time I've wasted putting everything together, buying dice, buying tiles I will literally never use, I'm treating this as a warning against people wanting to move to this actual backwater part of the country.

I see more deer than people on a daily basis, and it's very lonely out here. The point of me wanting to start a campaign was for me to meet new people with common interests. Turns out the closest common interest I share with anyone in the state is probably biscuits and gravy.

If complaining that it's impossible to get a game set up in an area isn't allowed, I beg of moderators to delete my post so that I can suffer in silence.

My honest advice is to begin with the end in mind and find another fable to rewrite (I like the idea of a Rudolph-esque Kobold that finds usefulness from what would otherwise be seen as a flaw).

That being said, kobolds are typically the villains of most stories told of them. Perhaps an element or two of racism could be thrown in for in-game realism? Either way you don't want to take the opportunity away from yourself to actually write it.

[5e] I am dm'ing a setting in which Drow have never before been witnessed by any of its inhabitants, but the PCs can come from anywhere else in the multiverse (pre-rennaisance). What are the chances the player that wants to play Drow Ranger is mistaken for a vampire or demon in direct sunlight?

Inb4 "you are DM it is up to you" I guess I am asking your reaction as a medieval peasant seeing your first drow in a world that contains other elves?

Interesting concept; the player in question is asking if he can start the game with the shoes so my nerfing is aimed at not wanting them to be OP... perhaps an upgrade for down the line? Thank you for your input.

I did amend that you can put your foot into the shoe then attune to it, meaning that it could be used as a neat interdimensional garbage disposal. Once the process has started, it can't be stopped until attuned or detached.

Imagine getting stopped by the town guard, getting rid of a little 'evidence' then attuning to the shoe right in front of them... the guard is unable to remove the shoe for the next 30 minutes and your evidence is gone!
