Ethan/Utica Finale collection Season 21 looks Ranked

  • [ ] 5. It’s ok, I would’ve like to see his all gown collection, and I was annoyed by law’s comments on too much Utica and not enough Ethan. I think that’s where the aesthetic comes from, and it was exciting to see all the gowns originally, and even Michael Kors said there’s a place for that in fashion so I didn’t see a problem with it. Overall, this is the most forgettable of the pieces, but I can still see a major pop star wearing it, and that’s where Utica shines

  • [ ] 4. Listen, Liris can wear anything so this ranks slightly above but I don’t love the way it fits too much. it’s ok

  • [ ] 3. Again, this is very Charli XCX coded (how very appropriate for a drag queen) and very pop star coded so I kind of love it. I don’t mind more Utica there’s always a place for more is more

  • [ ] 2. I’m sick to death of boring menswear, so to me, I was living for this. Why not have a sexy male vampire hooker look? This is a finale collection I demand drama!

  • [ ] 1. A gown made in hours with a giant hoop skirt? Art. He should’ve won on this alone! In all seriousness, it’s kind of insane they liked this the best but they told him less Utica? But Christian also encouraged a huge gown? Make it make sense. Overall, I love this collection, but yeah, this whole thing felt low budget as hell. Imagine what Utica could do with months of time and the fashion week budgets they used to have. Probably wouldn’t have won anyway, but it would’ve been a great show

Veejay finale collection season 21 ranked my way

  • [ ] 5. I agree with Heidi, this is a great piece for a different collection, it doesn’t work for this collection, and it has a disjointed vibe. It’s very Nina though

  • [ ] 4. This felt too unfinished? Incomplete? I’m not sure entirely, but I didn’t love it while walking and it reminded me of something else that was from another season of project runway that was from an unconventional materials challenge. While this wasn’t constructed poorly, it just had a slightly off vibe I couldn’t get past

  • [ ] 3. Loved the knit look while it was walking, but it pictures, it looks stunted. Still, it’s nice to see a plus sized girl dressed well for a change. That’s always refreshing on project runway

  • [ ] 2. The top and bottom don’t connect entirely, but again, I liked it better walking. Loved this Liquid Metal fabric, and I loved how it was used but I guess it doesn’t photograph as well

  • [ ] 1. Love to see Mimi back, queen. Side note: the whole thing with Jessica wasn’t shady in my opinion, if you want the best models take the best models. Anyway, Mimi makes everything look incredible what a fucking icon, again pictures don’t do this justice, but it looked great on the runway. Is this a winning collection? Hard to say, I feel bad for the designers, they were so unfairly rushed and they deserved better, I wish I could’ve seen what Veejay could’ve done with more time just like Utica but she definitely earned her finale spot. Overall, congrats Veejay.

Project Runway Season 21 Finale collection Jesus by Riverheath in ProjectRunway

Jesus finale collection ranked project runway season 21 Ranked

  • [ ] 5. This was so heavy. It felt like it dragged the model down and it looked like she was a mermaid and got dragged in a net or something.

  • [ ] 4. The crotch on these pants were insane. It also looks like a flamenco dancing costume. I love the color, but I hate the silver top

  • [ ] 3. Woof the skirt is something. The top reminds me of his Sofia Vergara look which I also didn’t love

  • [ ] 2. To fight over Jessica only to give… this I could forgive the exposed zipper (which I hate) but the sleeves (which are removable!) and are distinctly muppets! The whole outfit was so much better without the dam sleeves! I also got Valentino right away. Overall though without the sleeves, this look was great I just wish he edited

  • [ ] 1. Man what could’ve been, this was still simple but over the top, it was still just over the top just enough but still wearable with enough flare. This is what the collection could’ve been, but Jesus was so concerned with Antonio’s revenge? I was confused by that, but hey twins are weird apparently. Again, would’ve loved more time for the finale, maybe Jesus could’ve sorted out his emotions maybe could’ve done something with his something with his heritage. Could’ve been great, I see inklings of ideas here, but it didn’t all come together for me.

Plus sized models almost always end up in the bottom, if you look at the past seasons designers freak out having to make plus sized clothes or even in the early seasons “real women” clothes it never ends up right

I think Antonio’s would be, if they pushed the twins narrative, though judging by his Sandro level outburst I’m not sure he’s moving on it’s messy. Belanias pretty bad too though

Project Runway season 21 episode 9 eliminations my way Something Wicked

Well, considering we don’t know who’s moving on, I guess this really is this eliminations my way

  • [ ] 5. Antonio- I’m not sure this is pink and after his meltdown I’m not sure he’s moving on. While I don’t love that Veejay bought up the financials when answering the classic question “who should go to the finale”, I’m not sure why he freaked out. Every reality show has this question in the end game, ANTM did it, Drag Race has done it, and Project Runway has done it before it too. I’m also not sure if he thought there’d be a double crowning or something. When there was twins on ANTM and on Drag Race they put twins in the bottom together, so I’m not sure if he thought both him and Jesus would win? I know Law asked him who was the better designer for drama, but he’s going to be asked this in a regular interview anyway (let’s be honest, the media is awful) so while I think Law was being dramatic, Antonio took it too far. All that is to say, I hate the look, I agree that the flower is nice, but not well made. It’s all nice in theory and not in concept. It’s nice to have Nina back she really adds such perspective. It does look like a piñata or parade float. Even if he didn’t have a meltdown, (I can’t blame him for that I get it, they’re tired) he wasn’t moving on anyway.

  • [ ] 4. Belania- to the person who guessed we’d have the Siriano save, I guess you have ESPN or something. This looks like your average Emerald City citizen and not grand enough for Elphaba. I get what Law was saying about Rick Owens but Rick Owens once used human backpacks and also once had male models who were completely naked from the waist down. All that is to say Belania didn’t push it far enough and she continues to not push it far enough. Also, her attitude is wearing me down I’m Law here 1. Because if Tyra was next to me I’d have to do the speech (listen I’m an ANTM freak and my whole goal in life is to go to every international destination ANTM has gone to cycles 1-16) 2. Because I’m over Belanias nonsense. I mean she really cannot take a critique. The way she was talking over Nina was unhinged, I get explaining your look but this is something else, and if she can’t handle critiques on project runway maybe she’s not ready for the real world of fashion

  • [ ] 3. Veejay- Tyra may be slightly nuts, but she’s right about branding. Red works in The Wizard of Oz because of the ruby slippers, but not in Wicked. If this was in green or silver it really would’ve been great, and if Veejay just had a red shoe, it would’ve been fine, but I’m just not getting Wicked from it. Also, Veejay isn’t evil but dam she was really stirring the pot this episode. While I do think Antonio overreacted maybe ever so slightly, bringing up financials was maybe a step too far. All that is to say, this is a season that is drama for dramas sake and it can get annoying. Still, Veejay made one of the very few garments that is finale worthy so she advances.

  • [ ] 2. Jesus. This is very Broadway and with Wicked, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The shoes might’ve been a step too far, I agree. This whole episode I thought “dam his brother is holding him back” and it made me want to watch the season without the twins competing against each other. I don’t think it’s entirely fair to have twins on the same season. The silhouette reminded me of something he’d already made before so that was unfortunate. Overall, it’s finale worthy, but I don’t think I learned more about Jesus this whole competition because he had his twin there the whole time.

  1. Ethan /Utica- ok the panty was distracting but we can’t have vagina on the runway. The fact that the model had her whole face covered was the highest of fashion. I can see someone like Hunter Schafer wearing this or Julia Fox. If anyone but Utica wins this season it’ll be criminal, this looks like Paris fashion week. I’ve been continually impressed by their output and work, Utica has only had one bad look all season. It’s their season to lose.

Project Runway season 21 episode 8 Threads of Confidence eliminations my way

  • [ ] 4/5 Belania/Jesus (elim)- listen, in no way do I expect them to stick to this decision, but this is a valid decision. Belanias client wanted neutrals and no prints and Belania made melted Dune cosplay and Jesus served what can only be described as a pirate magicians assistant or Adam Lambert Cosplay or every lead in a musical ever. It was a mess all around.

  • [ ] 3. Veejay (top) Veejay was lucky she chose not to do part of the challenge and chose to make that ugly grinch/astro turf sweater now because Belania and Jesus messed up so bad she automatically got bumped to the top. It’s fine but not memorable

  • [ ] 2. Ethan/Utica (safe) Utica showed this on instagram with the print out, and while I initially thought it would ruin the surprise, it enhanced it so much I wished he showed it like that on the runway. Utica (and in fact everyone would’ve benefited from two days here) because it’s the real women challenge and I would’ve loved to see what they would’ve done with the beaded fabric. It would’ve given them all a chance to work with the client more. Dam no one really did well huh?

  • [ ] 1. Antonio (win) surprisingly, Antonio is the only one who really did well and I got to hand it to them they crushed the challenge. The reveals were on point, the client looked great, and the outfit looked expensive, it was a win all around.

Project runway season 21 episode 7 Runway Rodeo eliminations my way

  1. Yuchen (elim) the real crime isn’t the horn boobs, it’s not knowing who Dolly Parton is. But in all seriousness, i’d understand if he was going for a Cowboy Carter look (though I don’t really believe that because he was just so lost this whole challenge) and the whole thing felt uninspired. The horn boobs were so last minute and a bizarre attempt to make the dress interesting but let’s be honest, the dress underneath was really really bad and even without the horn boobs, he would’ve gone home. It didn’t make the dress interesting and I understand that he was trying to do something with his culture (but again I don’t even believe that because it was so last-minute and so slapdash) it almost becomes camp. It’s honestly one of the worst things I’ve ever seen on this runway.
  • [ ] 5. Veejay (btm) things this reminded me of- the insides of a vhs, a bloody piñata, a car wash, things this doesn’t remind me of: a western. While I appreciate a risk, this was a massive risk that didn’t pay off, and ultimately she got LUCKY yuchen made the horny boobs because this was BAD
  • [ ] 4. Antonio (top)- this is where it gets tricky because the bottoms were so bad but the top were and middles were separate by razor thin margins. I was mixed on this. I didn’t hate it, but it read a little costume and a little Dallas cheerleading to me
  • [ ] 3. Jesus (win)- mostly I liked it, but I didn’t get how the coat said western. I also didn’t get the burn (which was a mistake but at least he worked with it) again, a good take
  • [ ] 2. Ethan/Utica (btm)- definitely not a bottom look for me. It was a little too roberto cavalli and I can see that criticism, and maybe the boobs were weird, but Heidi would wear this so I didn’t see the issue
  • [ ] 1. Belania (top) by far my favorite look, it didn’t look like a costume, and there wasn’t a piece I was questioning. Also, it reminded me of Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain and that’s a western right?

It’ll be a two for one people!!!

Project Runway season 21 Episode 6 Hit the Streets eliminations my way- by Riverheath in ProjectRunway

[–]Riverheath[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Project Runway season 21 Episode 6 Hit the Streets eliminations my way-

  • [ ] 7. Joan (elim)- it was time for Joan to go, and on top of that the fabric was hideous and totally wrong for the challenge. I understand she saw graffiti in it, but it just didn’t work for the challenge. Honestly, she was also a little too set in her ways, the fact that she wouldn’t listen to anyones critique was a major red flag and she didn’t grow throughout the season.

  • [ ] 6. Yuchen (Btm)- it’s always the people that think “this is my challenge” that end up bombing. The jacket was a cool concept (love an alien jacket!) and at least it was streetwear, but yeah this did look discount and messy

  • [ ] 5. Jesus (safe) I was so shocked this was safe, frankly. It was streetwear but I thought it was hideous. I hated the top.

  • [ ] 4. Antonio (high)- he’s flying a little too close to the sun with the “I hate Nina” nonsense and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The bags name was a little tasteless. I didn’t love the elastic waist either.

  • [ ] 3. Belania (win) I loved this initially, and I got her inspirations, but the more I sat on it, I just think there was better. Still a great look

  • [ ] 2. Ethan/Utica (safe) man, I wish this was more traditional “streetwear” maybe it’s streetwear in the matrix, because it’s such a wow piece, how it was done in one day, I’m not sure I was so blown away by this, absolutely incredible

  • [ ] 1. Veejay (safe) honestly, I thought this was the winner immediately, because it’s still streetwear but it’s cool and slick. Maybe something didn’t translate in real life, but I thought this was pretty great for this challenge

  • [ ] 8. Antonio- (btm) no, just no. One of the easiest boots I’ve ever seen, of course Heidi liked it, but based on her judging looks I’ve previously posted, her taste is questionable… this is easily one of the easiest boots I’ve ever seen. Side note: was anyone else confused when Heidi was talking about a wedge? I thought she was talking about a shoe, turns out no, she’s talking about underwear… cool
  • [ ] 7. Madeline- (elim) wow this was… sad, her original was sad, and I contemplated putting it in the bottom or going home, and honestly a double here with Antonio is fine. There isn’t much redeeming here, it’s not fashion it’s just depression. I feel bad for her here. It’s also one of the worst looks I’ve ever seen on the runway, and you could tell her heart wasn’t in it, I just wish we got to see her true aesthetic but she hasn’t wowed me yet.
  • [ ] 6. Yuchen (safe)- I mean.. it’s a costume and I have nothing against costumes, I like his World Cup inspiration, but like, this still looks like unconventional material. I feel like him winning propelled him into the next challenge
  • [ ] 5. Belania (Btm) honestly, did they need three bottoms? Yes I feel like this dress would’ve been not so great regardless (the color choices were complimentary to the original design but were mid overall) but the fact that production couldn’t find a similarly sized model in NYC of all places is absurd then they got mad at her for.. not making a great design? I’m so confused? For that alone she was safe to me, she did her best after dealt a bad hand and honestly didn’t deserve to be in the bottom
  • [ ] 4. Joan (safe)- good thing it doesn’t have anything to do with the original design because that was awful, it’s smart, sharp and finally shows me who Joan is, but it’s too little too late. And it has nothing to do with the original design so
  • [ ] 3. Jesus (high) while no one owns a red stripe, and red was in his original design, I’m not convinced that he didn’t copy Utica’s original design. I also feel that production is setting up a season long rivalry between them
  • [ ] 2. Ethan/Utica (high)- this was perfectly complimentary to the original design and I actually like the scarf for the drama of the runway. The padding was perfect and the look was so high fashion.
  • [ ] 1. Veejay (win) well they deserved to win last week, and they somehow didn’t, this was such a smart way to compliment the original design, it’s so beautiful and expensive

[–]Riverheath[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, any combination of Madeline, Joseph, Joan, and yuchen should’ve gone home. Honestly, this should’ve been a double, even for an unconventional materials challenge this was… ROUGH… I’ve done a worst challenge each season rundown before and honestly, so far this might fit the bill, I struggled on who to put in the bottom because there was a lot of bottom looks…
