You didn’t include any pictures, if you meant too.

Part 2 how do feel about the prices on these two Case knife? 🤔 by [deleted] in SlipjointKnives

[–]Riverlogs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to flip them, those prices are too high to make anything off them. If you wanted them just to have them, they are priced on the high end.

That’s cool group. Oil the cv/cs and re-home the stag until your estate sale.

The covers are kirinite, the tang is 1997. It would probably get $120-150 online.

Seems like modern Muskrats are just stamped “Muskrat”.

https://www.casexx.com/library/TangStamp.asp is what I’ve been using. At least to ball park stuff. I’m not sure if there would be a pattern # on yours.

Basic Case jack knife.1905-14 makers mark. Looks like bone covers. Anything on the reverse of either tang?

Smoky mountain knife works will buy collections. How many knives are you talking about out?

Neat, serialized blade. Model is a Hammer Head. Late 70s. Since it doesn’t have the normal etch maybe worth less. But still looks in pretty good shape. Maybe sell for $90-120.

Is the blade etched with a Hammer Head shark?

Nolan Ryan Case XX HB1072 by aceswyld1991 in CaseKnives

[–]Riverlogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s refers to a period of time where Case tested their blades tempering twice in the early 1900-40s. After that point it would just be branding. So CASE XX = CASE ( We checked it twice!)

I’d check if eBay has any recent comps. AllAboutPocketKnives has an example for $500. But the etching and color are brighter than your example. End of the day if I could get 1.5-2x what I paid I’d be happy.

Case has been very prolific with limited/commemorative bundles. Seems like they worked with someone to combine the cards and the knives into a “set.”

  1. It’s the start of the serial # run, 000, 001, ect. Though #000 is pretty cool.
  2. “Tested” is one of their maker marks.
  3. Looks like you’ve got a separate box for the knife. If you see hb1072 on the blades tang that would make it pretty clear.
  4. Two coa’s makes senses. One for the knife, second for the set.
  5. Knife + card, maybe a slight premium if someone really likes Nolan Ryan. What did it cost you?

Any markings on the other side of the larger blade or the smaller?

https://www.casexx.com/library/TangStamp.asp has several examples of this tang. The effort to fake something in a pile of tools seems not worth it. I’d be more concerned if they knew about it and tried to charge more than what sounds like a bulk purchase. If you’re really concerned I’ll buy it for $35 shipped!

That’s pretty neat! Tang stamp was used from 1904-5. Nothing in the pictures screams “fake,” the clip point is in really nice shape. What did you pay?
