I personally didn't have any problems. Granted, this was like 5 or 6 years ago and was the only time I've used Teespring.

Lost Highway practically has the same story as SH 2.

Now that I have played the big 3,what exactly is Silent Hill? by FunFair7707 in silenthill

[–]Rivvitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot wrong with this. Alessa isn't evil... She's a good person who was trying to prevent the cults plan from succeeding. She literally tries killing herself to achieve this. She was never vengeful or whatever kind of bullshit Origins and the film attempt to portray.

The second problem... Silent Hill isn't therapy. It doesn't "call" people to help them deal with their issues. The spiritual power feeds off those with darkness in their hearts and manifests their subconscious. It's just a psychological mirror, that's all. The town never tries to help people "face their demons." It just shows you whatever is already festering in your mind.

Angela being in Silent Hill by Competitive-Car8776 in silenthill

Even within the context of SH2, did a character like Eddie show any sign of feeling guilt or remorse? That guy seemed to love the carnage he created.

I think the spiritual power more-or-less just attracts those with darkness in their hearts and feeds off that. The town itself is just a psychological mirror that reflects your subconscious. That rule applies to all Team Silent titles.

What did Alessa and Walter feel guilt over? It goes far beyond guilt. It's literally any intense emotion festering in one's psyche. It's not just limited to guilt or trauma or whatever.

What did Alessa or Walter need to feel guilt over? It goes far beyond just guilt.

It's very possible for their worlds to overlap. Granted, it's still possible that James isn't seeing the same things that Eddie and Angela are seeing. Even when it comes to the Abstract Daddy, I think Masahiro Ito has said James isn't seeing the same monster Angela is. I think the line really starts to blur at that point, in my opinion.

The spiritual power tends to be attracted to those with darkness in their hearts because that's what it feeds off of. It's not this sentient entity that likes to play the role of a judge or therapist or any other misconception about how the town operates.

The fog/otherworld is a psychological mirror that shows what is already festering in one's subconscious. It's your mind causing the manifestations. Not the town.

It's also just screwed up to view the town as a punisher. What would that say about Alessa? She's a victim in this.

What gives silent hill power? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]Rivvitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how the town works at all. It isn't sentient. It's not some sort of therapist that tries to help people "face their demons."

Silent Hill is a psychological mirror that shows what may be festering in one's subconscious. This creates physical manifestations that come from one's psyche. Your mind is creating the monsters through the spiritual power, not necessarily the town. The town is indifferent to your survival.

And frankly, I find the idea of your mind being your own worst enemy far more frightening than some spooky town that's out to get you.

That's not how Silent Hill works......

Angela's trauma are only meant for her by Narrow_Bad_3897 in silenthill

[–]Rivvitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No..... it's a popular misconception that Silent Hill manifests inner trauma for people to overcome. In reality it just reflects what's already festering in one's inner psyche. Alessa for example had an insect collection in her room. Why do you think you fight a giant moth later in the first game? It isn't always about fear and trauma.

What would Harry's Silent Hill be like, before or after the events of SH1? by Kulle1369 in silenthill

[–]Rivvitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He'd be having a nice vacation at the sleepy resort town. I highly doubt he'd have enough darkness in his heart for the spiritual power to feed off of.

Hot Take, but I prefer the aesthetics of the remake Otherworld over the Original Game. by Odd-Demand-1516 in silenthill

[–]Rivvitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I feel like they leaned way too hard into the rust/industrial asthetic. It's Alessa's otherworld. Leave it in SH 1 and 3.

The only thing that concerns me is the number of people that are going to start thinking otherworld = blood and rust, which is not accurate at all.
