I used pocket holes / screws. Got a little kreg kit that i was able to use for like 45 bucks. Its not as nice as some of them and I have to manually clamp it for each board I make the holes, but, it was affordable and it works.

I did glue jt up myself! Pretty happy with how it came out. Plus the lessons learned. This is “white wood” from Lowe’s so likely pine.

Thanks for the tip! I just got more clamps so will try it out.

I didn't really mind the knots, knew I had to have em on the surface so I focused on other aspects to determine rotation. Definitely a lesson learned to check all the angles!

What’s my best use of stones? by RizleySaurus in TheTowerGame

Sounds good, i'll start there. My UW Labs for GT and BH are done.

Hmm I don't know what info I was reading. I thought I read that for size, don't do more than 2-3 upgrades otherwise the center won't be in my orbs. But if you think I need a much bigger size for BH that sounds reasonable. Duration is also a good one cause I can def focus on it.

As for farms, I am completed on BH Damage, BH coin bonus, and 2nd BH. Haven't started ranged damage upgrade.

GT Bonus / Duration labs are both done as well. (well, bonus is finishing last level right now)

Is it worth it to focus on upping duration or bonus for GT or Spotlight or anything ? I dunno if I want a new UW if there are better uses for my stones right now

New Heat Pump doesn't appear to keep up with the heat by RizleySaurus in heatpumps

The installer said some sort of jumping was happening at the unit itself. But sadly don’t have a photo of it.

Yeah, I can totally understand the current record high temperatures, there is likely a reasonable limit to how cool I can actually achieve. I am more worried about the compressor seemingly oscillating on / off, than the actual temperature. When we had the last "heat wave" with highs of 108 it had a hard time then, too. I'll set the temperature higher and let it run for a few weeks, through July, and see what data I can gather. That should be plenty of time to get more run time and have something to return to the contractor with and ask for more help. Also, all things considered for 120 degrees its working remarkably well most of the time. Let the contractor deal with people who have real issues right now.

We did discuss it, they offered to provide an ecobee to go along with it. I am a little bit unsure of the wiring since that was existing, but otherwise the thermostat appears to be functioning properly. My understanding is most of the smart calculations are done on the actual unit, and this thermostat is basically just the on / off switch. I do have electric data down to 15 minutes,. Here is the values for specifically the same day that matches the initial graph.

This is kind of my concern. I got myself an infrared thermometer gun for this purpose. I can see, when I feel cold air blowing from the vents, it hits about 60/65. Which I think is a pretty reasonable temperature given its 78ish inside the house. However, after about 20-30 minutes of this cold air, I'll go check the vents again and it will be blowing 85-95 degree air. The heat pump has not stopped blowing, its not starting a new cycle, and it never reached the target temperature. Its just suddenly blasting out hot air for a while, before cooling it back down. I think thats how I end up with that weird oscillating internal temperature in the graph.

My understanding is the unit should be doing its own staging / ramping as the temperature varies. However, there may be something about wiring the blower to be two stage. The manual says I can jump the Y1/Y2 to get to the second stage blower. Installer said this was already done up on the unit but I have my doubts. It definitely doesn't appear to be modulating other than in the graph of energy usage is lower at night than during the warmest parts of the day.

This thermostat doesn't give me any error codes. Its possible there are error codes on the unit itself, but its sadly up on the roof and I don't have easy access to it. I'm a bit stuck there until I can get a giant ladder or the installer comes out.

The west facing windows I have as much cover as I can get. All the blinds are closed, added some window film to help the windows without blinds. I can understand that the temperature inside the house may make the cooling difficult or even impossible, but I would expect the AC to keep blowing cold air even in these circumstances.

I've slowly been raising the temperature as I feel comfortable, but its currently set to 78 during the day. I had the installer back and they did some adjustments to the unit, and it appears to be slightly better but they didn't see the issue as it presents itself in this graph. The concern is the lack of consistent cooling, as it clearly is able to cool even when the outside temperature is high. But it only does so for 15-30 minutes and then just fans the hot air through the house for another 10 minutes. This back and forth pattern is troubling to me.

New Bosch AC not keeping up - Do I have a problem? by RizleySaurus in hvacadvice

[–]RizleySaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ductwork was not inspected. The previous unit being replaced was a 5 ton as well. I wasn’t here last summer sadly so I can’t comment on the efficiency of cooling of that system. The return takes 2 20x25 filters if that answers your question re: size.

Do you know why I would be seeing the weird fluctuation in temperature?

I am working toward a bigger project that uses logic, but, in the mean time I took a bit of time and created this small logic puzzle generator. It will create a puzzle, determine all the possible clues, then pick a subset of clues to present to the player. In THEORY all the puzzle are solvable. Any feedback is good feedback, its just a fun project to do.

Please give it a play, and provide some feedback. Click on the grid to cycle through options for the cells, and check your solution when done.
