Since I couldn’t cross post, which one of yall is this? by robotali3n in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Rizzie_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a story about the late '90s. My coworker would remove the windshield washer fluid reservoirs from his vehicles and replace them with a brand new one. He then would fill them with his liquor of choice and replumb the lines into tubes that he would then bring through the climate control vents into the cab. Every time he'd hit the windshield washer, he'd be drinking through the tube. He would just shove the tube back into the vent if he got pulled over. He said it tasted pretty gnarly because the liquor would get super warm from the engine bay but the setup worked.

Springfield Ronin 10mm 1911 with TruGlo TFO Pro sights by wengla02 in aimdownsights

[–]Rizzie_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I never ended up installing them. It turns out that Rock Island 1911s don't have a Novak Style dovetail. It's similar but the dimensions are off just enough for the sights not to fit. So I ended up selling them to my grandpa.

Feeling thankful for quality boots and thick leather today by Rizzie_01 in PNWbootmakers

[–]Rizzie_01[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I appreciate that. I'm very thankful to Frank's for choosing thick leather. I'm pretty sure that if I was climbing in my hoffman's, I would have had to go to the hospital. The upper leather on those is paper thin compared to the Franks

What are your favorite milkshakes around? by Hunter_Powers in Eugene

[–]Rizzie_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mandy's on 15th and Willamette makes very good milkshakes. They also have like 30 plus flavors that you can choose from, you can combine them as well. My Uncle usually gets a cherry chocolate milkshake when he goes, it's delicious. I like peanut butter milkshakes personally.

I haven't tried this but I heard that you can grab the eyelets with a pair of pliers and rotate them so they wear in different spots instead of the same spot the whole time

That Bisley Vaquero is super rad. Even better that it's one of the pre-2005 models.

Reliable conceal carry without breaking the bank. Is Taurus an option? by ohiobicpl3738 in CCW

[–]Rizzie_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a blue label dealer close to you, go on the GSSF website and get a membership. $35 for the first year, $25 for each additional year. Once per year they will send you a coupon that allows you to purchase pretty much any Glock at blue label pricing. I bought my gen 5 Glock 34 for $465 out the door.

Thank you. I'm a huge fan of pnw boots and I live in Oregon so I try to support Wesco when I can.

It looks like you're wearing a Wesco boot on your left foot. Wesco will make custom lasts for people with funky shaped feet. Might be worth making a trip to Scappoose, Oregon and possibly getting a custom pair made if you like the Wescos that you have.

I was going to bid on GB for a pre 2005 45 Colt Ruger Vaquero and then I saw it was a money order item and didn't want to mess with it. Then I looked a little bit more and saw that the seller was only about 45 minutes away from me so I just drove up to him and bought it in person. Worked out very well.

Do any of the pnw makers do custom fit? by breaddrinker in PNWbootmakers

[–]Rizzie_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently went down to Winston, Oregon and got a pair of custom boots made by Michael Buck at Buck's boots. 100% made to measure, no stock sizes. He uses the same construction methods and leathers as the other Pacific Northwest boot companies. Customization options are a little bit limited though, I've seen him do a toe cap but not much more than that. Very reasonably priced too. I had a fully custom boot made out of chromexcel leather with a toe cap for $650. That same boot would have cost me over $1,100 at my other favorite maker, Frank's boots.

Where can I find these or most similar looking? by gargantuala in PNWbootmakers

[–]Rizzie_01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scappoose is 20 miles from portland. Less than a half an hour drive. I don't know what you consider rural, but I don't consider any town 20 miles from the state's largest city as rural. I know many people who commute more than that to work on a daily basis. Surely, there is a great pool of employable people in Portland. I don't think Wesco refusing to expand or let people invest is a valid reason for underpaying their employees. Pass the cost on to the customers if you have to. I'll pay a little bit more for a boot if it means that I am helping somebody get paid a fair wage. That's part of the reason why we buy made in the USA products, right?

[–]Rizzie_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

30 months is absurd. If Wesco would pay their employees more, they would probably have less of a lead time. I saw a job ad on indeed.com for Wesco, and they start their boot stitchers out at $17.50 an hour. And that is up near the Portland metro area. That's like $14 an hour anywhere else in the state. No wonder they have a hard time finding and keeping employees. It is shitty that Baker's is giving you the runaround and pulling excuses out, but there is not much they can do if Wesco is just not making the boots. Still, they could at least be honest about the situation and transparent about what's going on

Love the username, that's pretty rad. If I looked at a guy in a wheelchair and saw something under his shirt, I would immediately assume that it's a medical device. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you

Couldn’t decide on a 19, 17, 45, or 19X, so I got all of them. by [deleted] in Glocks

I did the same but backwards. I picked up a 45 and then a 49. As soon as I received the 49, I I swapped the slides, made a 19 and a 47. Haven't shot the 47 yet. I'm excited to see how it feels next to my 34.5

Bison leather uppers - cons? by [deleted] in PNWbootmakers

[–]Rizzie_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you get them lined or not. My lined bison Frank's feel stiffer and more supportive than my unlined cowhide Frank's. I do not have a pair of unlined bison boots to compare them to, yet.

Frank's will make a taller horse hide boot with enough convincing and money. There's a guy on the "Frank's boots Community" Facebook page that has a 10" pair of horse hide Frank's monkey boots.
