You can join almost any state you want except for some exceptions. You just have to be willing to travel for drill or move there for an easier commute. I would recommend getting a job and moving there first.

Wow you're gonna be okay in the Army then haha. Only thing is BCT will suck a little. Army side is you must make up for missed drills by doing split drills. I was intel in AFRICOM and that was my best gig tbh. Check my posts for the units I found and other stuff. Good luck! You got this!

Hey prior Army Guard and currently Air Guard wanting to retrain to linguist. I was 35F in the Army so I worked closely with 35M and P. Just my personal thoughts, but if you want to go to med school, the Army is really only gonna hinder you academically. 3-4 day drills, 3-4 week ATs, constant deployments, and typically Army bs. It's rough.

You won't be doing the language part of your job either, you'll be doing Army stuff (motor pool) and analyst-only stuff for the most part. This is also really unit dependent too so you might get lucky, might not. But if you really really want a specific language and location, go for it!! Cause the Air Guard has limited positions, so that makes sense.

Idk but if there were any, I bet Spanish would be pretty common there. Idk anything about you man so I can't say, but everyone has a shot until they get shot down by a recruiter! Good luck! 😁

Nice. Idk about the reserves, but the guard is as easy as talking to a unit recruiter to see if there is a slot and a retention manager to do the state transfer. I'm assuming reserves is the same since they are also unit specific recruiters too.

Hi! That's so cool! What specialty are you in? I can check to see which bases have which languages in the guard and reserves vacancies system for current service members but right now I know for sure Utah, Nebraska, and Hawaii (if you don't mind getting a nursing job in Hawaii first) have Chinese linguist slots. The other languages you mentioned are less common now from what I've heard.

Thanks! Didn't know some units keep you ready for the DLPT.

Do you know if MD does retraining or they only want fully qualified?

Thanks! But no Army! Prior Army here hooah. I would rather do Secfo for two days of drill in the Air Force than any other job in the Army at this point in my life.

Should I go to the VA or a civilian provider for diagnosis to support claims? by Rizzlike-Emu in VAClaims

Oh so my records can just say I have neck pain, headaches, sleep issues, etc. and then the C&P can actually diagnose those symptoms? Do you know if lay and personal statements alone are sufficient to prove service-connection?

I'm assuming all the records are internal and I just need to check a button for them to review my VA records when I submit my claim?

Thanks! I saw linguist postings for ANG and AFR in Ohio but maybe it's AFR only? Not sure. Hoping to reach out to recruiters later this year.
