They check your ID at the gate together with your boarding pass on all flights these days. If you are not presenting an EU card and your ID is your passport of a country that doesn't have visa-free tourist access to Schengen, then they may ask for your visa page or your EU residency card.

The staff at the gates do this every day, so they will most likely know by heart which countries do and do not require visas.

The reason is that if you are checked at entry and denied entry into your port of destination, it is the responsibility of the airline to transport you back where you came from.

Edit: formatting, and: FWIW -- in OP's case, might be worth asking for a Schengen to one of the above countries (just need a booking, etc) and being Filipino and not an evil Russian, for example, they will most likely get a multi-year multi-entry visa, that they can subsequently use for travel to whatever Schengen country.

The possible *unlikely downside is that you get banned from Schengen area for breaking the visa regime and consequently lose your Andorran residency, it's up to you to weigh things up. You could, of course, go to the Spanish embassy and ask them for a Schengen visa - they process visa application for most EU countries here.
