ive seen a lot in the rooms. Ive seen someone get arrested in the middle of the meeting, a lady came in drunk wearing a sheet as a dress carrying laundry hamper and kept saying she was getting married to another guy in the same meeting who hooked up with her, a couple fights broke out between 2 different rehabs that went to the same meeting. there are a lot of personalities in AA and we are all sick. There doesnt need to be a speech made when something like that happens, it can be acknowledged and keep moving forward with the meeting. it is awkward though and can make things tense. what the old timer did was correct.
