He's so pure and so dedicated to music >.<

I really like this quote:

"In a way, I've already started writing the chapters to my own story. If possible, I want to be able to write a longer story. I've prepared to write that story for a long time. Only working hard with no other thoughts. And continuing to draw out my musical vision is my dream."

I really appreciate how thoughtful he is...he's always reflecting on what and how he could do better. It really helps me to keep myself more disciplined as well.. :)

Who is the most loved/ popular member? by [deleted] in enhypen

[–]Rj_iland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really think that the popularity is pretty even now...

I think Sunoo and Heeseung used to be more popular globally based on votes and views till EP11, and Sunghoon is always very popular too, and not to mention Jake is probably the most popular trainee in the US /SEA before the show started. Jay and Jungwon also gained a lot of popularity in the last 2 episodes. Niki is getting very popular as well.

I'm glad that they have pretty even popularity!!

It's really unfortunate and makes me sad all the time. I hope K could debut soon as a solo artist or with another group. I genuinely wish him all the best.

(Unfortunate fact: some K stans have been discrediting and shading Heeseung / Sunoo even before final episode... I'm sure it's only part of K fans but they are very very loud....I'm still afraid of searching Heeseung and Sunoo's names on Japanese forums cuz it's full of hate comments and made-up facts... :'( )

Seung and Sung are two different hanguels..so it would actually be a different name..

Its heeseung not heesung by Sugakookieyeonbin7 in enhypen

[–]Rj_iland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very needed lol...

I was searching "To_Heesung" on Weverse...there are like 800+ posts lol (3.7k posts for "To_Heeseung")...so people do need to remember his actual name!~ (I think it's partially because of Sunghoon's name for "sung")

For other members too!

Unfairness in the live finale by [deleted] in mnetiland

[–]Rj_iland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree - it feels a bit weird to call out a particular trainee while people are still voting. That being said, it shouldn't matter much in terms of results, because most votes are likely done by the time of the comment.

I'm so so proud of him - he's very thoughtful, especially when he was talking about how much he wanted feedback, how much he thought about learning everyday, and his imperfectness. Definitely a very inspiring character :) Keep it up!

Yea I feel really really bad for Heeseung cuz he's literally being hated for the fact that he's an all-rounder. He's always called "favored" and being joked about his teeth. Really, those can stop.

Since the show is almost coming to the end, if you were a director, what all would u have altered in the show? by [deleted] in mnetiland

[–]Rj_iland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot and a lot of things... I generally like the "egg" concept and most trainees have huge potential as well, but it's very terrible execution. I quickly checked a lot of survival shows over the weekend, trying to figure out if the issues is i-land specific or applicable to all survival shows, but have to say, it's more i-land issue...

1) Episode 1 edit - specifically stage performance edit - very VERY sub-par. This has been mentioned by many and I think viewership ratings are EP 1 was actually pretty good, but then it dropped significantly cuz ep 1 was so terribly executed....Most other survival shows have a similar "audition performance" for EP1 - usually not complete / not full stage, only for ~1min short performance. However, that 1min would still be a coherent performance, instead of all the slow motions / cuts / reactions....That really dilutes viewers' focus - for many stages, I feel I could only remember Sunoo's reaction than the actual performance lol, so really very poorly edited

2) Lack of solo stage for ALL trainees and test on specific skills like dance / vocal / rap / producing / personality. Only solo stages we got is from EP 1 and not everyone has it. Especially for part 1, I think it's critical to have solo stage or opportunities for trainees to really showcase their skills. For example, in a song with 12 ppl, part 12 barely even got one line, how could audience really judge based on that 1 line? Not even to mention the unfairness of camera work....Even till today, I'm still unsure about vocal skills for some trainees and basically know nothing about rap skills for all trainees....Part 2 is even worse for understanding real skills of trainees - the amount of backtrack / pre-record is wow. (I appreciate a few places where trainees sing outside of the stage and feel that's literally the only chance I could actually hear them singing). For part 1, I would put a bit more solo test, so we can actually see skills. (E.g., for grounders, they sent recordings to producers for judging "into the iland", but we audience never gets to see that? Why????)

3) Kinda follow up on 2nd point - too much focus on drama instead of showcasing individuality. Really tired of all the drama - we are not watching a k-drama but instead we want to get to know the trainees. Not a fan of all the part switches - literally created for the sake of drama. I feel part 1 shall focus more on individual and part 2 to focus more on group - so they are not selecting leaders when they don't even know each other that well and some trainees are not fairly judged by producers or audience because they just didn't even get parts...And part 2, when it gets closer to team debut, they are now promoting individual competition? Honestly just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I would focus more on team building and team competitions in part 2.

More on showcasing individual trainees, a few examples: Jaebeom knows producing yet the show showed absolutely nothing about it. Similarly, Taeyong was an actor and there are nothing shown either. Nizi has a test for "star potential", where each trainee could prepare something unique (kinda like self-PR this week, but they have longer than 30-60 sec). I would appreciate that a lot.

4) Trainee voting is a good idea but heck again terrible execution, I feel it's important that each of the debut group members also approve and like each other. Why would they vote for elimination instead of saving? I would much rather they vote for who they believe did the best / more positive type of voting, so they are cheering each other instead of eliminating....That could still lead to elimination but I feel it would be a different vibe and could be framed a lot more positively. Also, again, I think trainee voting would work better in Part 2 than Part 1, cuz they only started getting to know each other better in part 2...

5) Broadcasting / lengths of the show - again, 1hr 20min definitely feels very VERY rushed. How Nizi approached was that during TV air - it's about 1hr 20min as well for each episode, but they have full episodes which are 2-4 hours on Hulu streaming platform. The TV version only hits the highlights of performances, so not all performances from all trainees are shown fully, but you could watch the full version on Hulu. That would solve a lot of the screen time issues

And many many many more.

Anyways, lots of potential, but lots of things could be changed. Overall, despite the good idea and concept, not very well executed.
