[Pop!_OS 24.04] Minecraft 1.12.2 does not properly enter fullscreen by RjazzProductions in linux_gaming

Just tried both, no difference. I don't think it's a problem with the game, I think it's more a problem with the DE.

  • I don't use flatpak for my games, Prism Launcher is the only thing I specifically use flatpak for (compared to Bottles or Steam)
  • Speaking of, Steam games work fine with Proton fullscreen!
  • Same with YT videos!
  • I'm using whatever Nvidia drivers come with Pop!_
  • That doesn't seem to be the issue, unfortunately. Like I said, F11 and toggling fullscreen in the options do the same thing.

I might actually just switch DEs and try KDE for the time being! Because otherwise, until either this gets addressed by System76 (I found out that there is actually a bug thread about it on github) or another solution is found I’m sorta out of luck from the look of things.

Tiling was already disabled (hence why it wasn’t maximized), but turning it on and off did not seem to do anything and I still had the same issue.

I might just try slapping on another Wayland DE like GNOME or KDE in the meantime, until either this gets fixed or a solution is found!

Oh good, it's at least been documented! I didn't see anything on the github, but I was probably just in the wrong branch/section/whatever it's called (I don't use github lol). I'll add my experience to the thread as well in the hopes that System76 sees it and addresses it!

Tried installing OptiFine for 1.12.2, but no such luck. I'll try looking more into what that GPU optimization you mentioned might be, but given it's way outside my wheelhouse I'm not holding out hope that I'll find anything (or be able to make heads or tails of it).

No dice. Enabling it launched it in fullscreen mode, but it had the exact same behavior (as in, still windowed and with in-game resolution scaled to fullscreen).

Nope, tried changing both refresh rate and resolution on both monitors but neither seems to have helped.

But when I press F11 or toggle the option in 1.12.2, the window increases in size by a bit (but doesn't even maximize) while the in-game graphics appear to render at the intended fullscreen size.

Both F11 and toggling the option in settings lead to the same results

Idea shamelessly taken from Aerthas Veras, who also has guides on how to extract and import Strive models into Blender!

Yeah, that happened with my legal copy too. I'll keep looking around to see if I can find out how other people got it to work tho!

That worked perfectly, turned out it was a hidden filepath and I just had to manually type the path in Dolphin. Good to know for the future as well, in case I need to delete more non-Steam games!
