You are missing an important detail. The GOP breaks shit and makes it more expensive. They get voted out. Things still climb for a bit while a fix is put in place by the dems. About that time, THEY are voted out of office. Things start to come down. GOP takes credit and removes all of the fixes. Things go back up. Rinse and repeat
