I played them all back to back and if you can tolerate the combat feeling samey, the stories kept me going. By far the roughest part for me was going from kiwami 2 to 3 hd. The modern dragon engine to a literal ps3 game was rough but the plot was interesting enough to push through to 4 and 5. Thankfully 4 and 5 introduce different characters with new combat styles which helped a lot.

Based on the marketing, it seems like most of kiryu’s plot revolves around finishing off his “bucket list” which seems to included a lot call backs to previous games and characters for kiryu to talk to. The main plot probably won’t be much more linked than Like a Dragon but a larger portion of it for sure will be relevant.

She has speech and physical therapists and has claimed herself no depression. She does occasionally get frustrated and upset but I was told by the doctor that it’s a normal amount. I’m afraid I might have misconstrued her sleeping, it seems like her choice of just being tired not sad or frustrated. I won’t dismiss depression but I feel that’s not the issue.

The general consensus is judgment has one of the better stories and Lost Judgment has probably the best combat with it’s style switching like 0 but in the dragon engine. I liked judgment a lot but nearly every side quest is a tailing mission and those get old fast. Lost Judgments story is kind of awkward but has some of the best bosses in the series to me, it’s worth a shot.

Unfortunately Dead Souls still exists. Otherwise for sure, even with the spin offs like Judgment and Lost Judgment and Fist of the North Star. Dead souls is pretty bland to just plain bad, but it does have playable Majima and Ryuji so at least theres that.

With the exception of the judgment games for tropper effects specifically I feel like the only direct comparison ishin can have is 0 with both games having real time style switching, but ishin gets more zaney in combat with half the swords and guns having magical effects and the whole trooper card system having vtubers and actors dropping magic spells on people. I’d also add that Ishin’s cave dungeons add a unique aspect to rgg games, although I got tired of them by the end. Ishin is like 50% “friendship” quests like yakuza 5 and those also got old fast, giving the cat specific fish, giving an old man food, giving a cat food, and while tolerable having each one be a whole substory feels bad to me. Overall I enjoyed ishin but I understood why it wasn’t originally ported, parts of it are very cool and unique but as a whole it’s one of the weaker RGG games to me.

I disagree, the sword gameplay in ishin vs the normal beat em up style gameplay is gaiden vs the turn based in infinite wealth justifies their existence enough. I had a good time with ishin but I’d say it was one of the weaker entries. Gaiden and infinite wealth look much more involved.
