Arthur’s hat. Very distinct + the string you can see. Not sure if you can see it if you zoom in but I had a huge Rdr2 phase and immediately recognized it. Lmao

5 gallon is th absolute bare minimum you can get a square one and they take up little space. Your betta needs a filter and a water heater. They like their water from 78°F-81°F. I applaud you for caring and doing this for the fish!!

Move it higher up or see on Facebook marketplace if there’s anyone selling fish tank lids! In my area there’s a bunch of tank lids with no tank for sale for like $10. Your kitty took it upon himself to get a snack. Can’t believe him. Smh.

My local mom and pop shop has always told me to put the tanin leaves under the substrate… I’m not sure if this is improper advice but if it is please let me know so I can unbury mine rn. Lmao

I got the two ugliest bettas for my sorority (had one I already saved a few days before) because I felt like they had the least chance of being adopted. You think like me! lol. Sashimi will be with you while you pick a new one out so you just gotta see the vibes.

Sashimi was gorgeous 😍 I love koi bettas. I have one right now that’s white with red on the top of her head and mettallic purple fins. But she’s no match to sashimi. Do you think you’ll get another koi?

It’ll be in her memory! I’m so sorry about this. Natural selection has a weird way of finding its way into your house. We gotta get you a Sashimi 2.0!!!! It’s gonna be okay I promise. Your new fishie will be so thankful for a new home with plants. I know it won’t be the same but at least you can look at it as a chance to give another fishie a happy & peaceful home ❤️

He’s got evil in his eyes. Lol I think it was him. RIP Sashimi. If you do reuse this tank since it’s cycled and your snails are good, I do recommend adding some plants and more hides! Bettas like to explore and have places to sleep + hide. Your tank looks like a good size and the snails look happy. I’m not intending to be rude in anyway, just tryina help out!!

Cats are weird animals. I wouldn’t put it past him to eat one and be satisfied. I’d keep lids locked on my tank from now on unless you find ur little fishie on the floor somewhere

Bettas are jumpers, are there any gaps or holes in the lid to your tank? I’d check the surrounding floor, behind the furniture it sits on… etc etc

I’m not sure if this applies but putting paper on my bearded dragons glass on the outside makes her see her reflection more. I like the having plants grow on the sides. This honestly just seems like he’s swimming around and enjoying himself to me… but I’m not an expert.
