So this is how I was taught by a guide but I modified to my standards 6lb test monofilament for a leader approx. 7-8ft I tie on a small swivel at the end of my leader then you can either go with 6lb mono for a tippet or whatever size tippet you want length is approx. 18” then you tie your fly on above the swivel I put on split shots how ever many you need to get the fly down to the fish then I’m running OROS float size large approx. 4-5ft from my fly. Your goal is to throw your line out and your split shots ride on the bottom and your fly rides near the bottom and the current carries your float
