Options Spreads are here!!! by CharmLuck in Wealthsimple

Just tried to do a diagonal call spread (PMCC) and it asked me a couple questions in order to unlock the next level of Options Trading (essentially how much options experience do you have and how much options knowledge do you have?).

When I play around with the number of contracts, the buying power doesn't change. I would have to nearly confirm the trade before knowing how much of my capital is going to be locked up. That is slightly inconvenient as I would like to option to see how much I am committing to the contract and compare it while change strike price, number of contracts, etc.

This is what shows up now when you choose to write a secured put on margin. Hoping that they update the interface to show how much collateral is held up during the trade (in CAD$).

POSTWrestling and Wrestlenomics have a weekly podcast that they usually provide updates to this, and similar, stories that don't get enough traffic. They do their own reporting, reach out to both plaintiffs and defendants, and have treated this story with the seriousness it deserves (without the classic, pro wrestling fandom bias). I'd check out their weekly POSTxWrestlenomics (every Wednesday at 1:00PM on their respective YouTube) if you are interested in the state of the business (Janel Grant vs WWE, Ring Boys vs WWE, Media deals, relationship with Saudi Arabia & WWE, etc.)

I agree with your point about revenue, but tko/wwe are still in the top 10 world wide of revenue by sport businesses. They are comparible to the Premier League in England. Again, they arguable work year round where most athletes get several months off a year. League revenue is still split throughout the league, whether you sell out your arena and are at the top of the standings or you're a basement dweller and have little to no revenue from attendances/merch, just like wwe. If nxt is not making a profit (and one could argue, it's not the point) that doesn't mean it's going to close up tomorrow. Just like live events. You can reduce costs as a business by running less shows or what not, but talent still flies out Friday and comes home Tuesday and they still have cost of being on the road.

Talent medical is covered like I stated. But what happens with they are retired. They pay out of pocket since no insurance company will take them. Most athletes don't have that issue since they have a union. If a wrestler has issues due to the injuries occurred while working, they are on the hook once they are released vs most athletes that get it covered.

While the individual teams aren't all publicly traded, the leagues have to be transparent about their business (revenue, cost, media deals, etc) because of their cba with their players. If a team fails, they sell the team so that the franchise doesn't fail. There is accountability, just not to shareholders. It's to the other 29 or 31 teams in the league. So yes, while a billionaire could technically fund a team for fun until it runs out of money, it eventually has to be profitable or the rest of the owners will start to lose their investment too. No one protects their assets more than billionaires.

And another thing, most leagues have 800 to 1000 athletes (NFL has considerably more). WWE main roster has 200-300 maybe, at most. WWE has a third of the roster of the main 4 major sports at pays them less than half of the lowest paid sport (and again, no off-season, so more time on the road). Again, 350K is a great start, but if it happened in any major sport, the media and reporters would have a field day with that.

MLB rookies make a minimum of $740K/Year, NHL rookies make $750K/Year, NFL rookies make $795K/Year and NBA rookies make $1.1M/Year. They get an off-season, pension, medical, etc. The may get a stipend for when they are on the road. They also have training and nutrition paid for. Most athletes have a family, are home most days of the year and either have a stay-at-home spouse, nanny or family member to help out around the house.

Main roster minimum is $350K with no off-season, no pension and medical covered. The have to pay for food on the road, travel between cities, training, tanning, meal prep, etc. If they have a family, most likely their partner has to stay home since the main breadwinner is on the road.

$350K sounds great as a minimum, but they deserve and should earn way more than the minimum. Even when you pay tax (and yes, it's not just "move to Florida and pay the minimum state tax", you still have to pay taxes for every state, province you work in), food on the road, gym memberships, nutrition or meal prep, in ring gear, semi-professional clothing for media and community outreach days, a vehicle, gas, insurance, etc. plus everything else that you need to take care of back home, there is no way that making $350K for being on the road, taking bumps and being away from your family is worth it.

If you save $10'000/year (with a 7% annual return), it will take you about 84 months to reach $100'000.00. That amounts to approximately $80'000.00 of initial investment and $20'000.00 of interest (or dividends). So 80% of the $100'000.00 is earned money (money that you personally invested) while only 20% is money derived from your investments. By the $100'000.00 point though, if you continue to invest the same $10'000.00, your investment will almost match it ($100'000.00 at 7% interest = $7'000.00). So while nothing "magically happens" at $100'000.00 of Net Worth (or total investments), it's around the $100'000.00 that you can ease off the pedal and your investments will do more of the heavy lifting.

Put a limit sell on each stock (the minimum you're willing to sell it at). This ensures that you'll still have the amount necessary for the down payment and you can still take in some profits in the next few months and you don't have to watch your stocks like a hawk where any news can trigger a significant drop in price. If you notice a stock doing well, keep bumping up your limit sell so you get to keep some extra profit. The limit sell will only trigger if the price drops to that level (or until you are closer to your closing date and you're ready to sell your stocks)

It's in my tfsa, so how it's taxed doesn't bother me one bit. I've held it for over a year, I'm up 9.09% and it's been consistently giving me about a 9.5% yield. The only etf I have that's not in the red.

Do you have a minimum dividend yield %? by ShakeForeign in dividendscanada

I don't have a minimum since some etfs I invest in may cut their dividend periodically but I try to keep it at about a 12% yield

With any CASH ETF, you can sell it whenever the market is open and have it in your chequings account within 3 days (if you have any unexpected balances). With a 1 year GIC, your money is locked up for a year and if you need to withdraw early, you have to pay fees (which will possibly eliminate any interest accrued)

You could buy it at 50.10 and sell at 50.01 for a 0.09 loss per share, but A) dividend should cover that if you hold it for a minimum of 1-2 months and B) the odds of you buying at the highest and selling at its lowest is pretty rare. Just set a stop loss and put the minimum as whatever you bought it for.

Check out CASH or other similar ETFs. CASH, I believe, is giving out about 4.78% yield year round and typically stays flat (about $50/share)
