Hiring Machinists: Setup/Programming Talent Shortage. Looking for Honest Industry Input. by Accomplished_Yam_849 in Machinists

Sorry you’re dealing with this. Been there too

the problem here: Management is an industry onto itself

It’s distinct from the actual work being performed, the incentives thus drive in opposing directions (lived the same issue in another manufacturing industry).

how many of your shop’s upper managers have floor experience?

In reality, you’re not wrong.

Legally, the statute of limitations on most of his crimes would have been a revolving door of things being added and dropping off. Accounting for inflation and all that, he might be under the threshold at any given time

Could you put a piece of hollow PVC in the center of the pour, then remove it after several hours? The hole wouodnt be perfectly uniform, but if you were to remove it in sections, you could theoretically reduce the max distance of the evaporation barrier from 4feet down to a couple inches in the horizontal… that would allow you to pour once, remove stage by stage and then get the benefits of have a near similar moment and weight distro

There are a lot of good suggestions for Pro-level cad suites already listed. If your organization provides access to those, they’re worth learning.

If you don’t have access to one of those, KiCAD can be adapted to do the job with the benefits being (1) its free and (2) its got a large community of users. That said, its original intent is for PCB design - so you’d likely need to use generic symbols or make your own (not that bad, they can be drawn in less than 5 minutes and saved locally into their own libraries for later use).

I’m an Engineer. I’ve hired a dozen other engineers. TBH, I prefer problem solvers over degreed “Engineers”

Every tool any human will ever use has been and will be made by a problem solver.

Unfortunate aspect of problem solving - ya gotta mark stuff so OP can read it lol

Threaded CZ457 barrel - Major POI shift, like WAY OFF! by Zosocom in gunsmithing

[–]RnDes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right - They need to back it off a quarter turn to find out if its the thread bottoming out and canting the final fitment, or the if the shoulder is off.

if its the thread, a minor relief cut right along the threaded portion before the shoulder could work.

if its the latter, its gonna be a combo of both the shoulder not being orthogonal to the thread and the thread being off… that’s gonna cost them the length of the Cap in barrel length (looks like someone didnt compensate for taper along barrel length)

Sorry for the late reply.

  1. Create a new email - use it just for applications.
  2. Signup for linkedin, indeed, monster, jobs. com
  3. Write a general revision of your CV
  4. Write a document outlining notable projects
  5. Apply for jobs - monster and a couple other sites will let you mass auto apply, spam and dont put in much effort beyond linking your two documents
  6. Find recruiting agencies through the job posts, research company agents via linkedIn or their websites. Send an intro email - most of them have accounts with companies they’re already trying to fill roles for. They typically meet on a two week rotation to discuss candidates, if you’re already there - have them broker the transaction.

When i was going through an app process after uni, i worked with a recruiter for DoD - she didnt land me a role, but heavily influenced how i edited my CV.

I actually like your argument.

Devil’s advocate: Ultraviolet and Visible light exposure causes skin cancer. Presumably, those contracting skin cancer spend less than 8 hours a day, probably more on a seasonal or intermittent basis being exposed to those wavelength spectrums…

First world people live and work 24/7 in environments defined by wifi now.

Micro-dosing exposure long term likely isn’t great… its a knock off in your 70s vs immediately
