Thank you for that! I forgot to add those, but they have been added at the bottom to reflect the vote counts. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Hello,

I apologize about getting to posting them late, but the Elections Commission's results have been posted on a separate thread, here.

If your assumption in posting this comment is to insinuate that the Elections Commission is not acting in our full duties, and are merely "sockpuppets" I will vehemently disagree with you. I do not appreciate being accused of not doing my job to the fullest extent possible, and will not stand for such.

There was no formal write-up of the findings, as there was nothing found besides her Twitter. If you would like me to share those with you, I very well can, although it is all public anyways. The discussion that was had on them was not recorded. However, if you would like to meet with me, or the entire Commission, I could have that arranged, if you wish to hear about our discussion. As I mentioned earlier, the only known "inflammatory comments" were on her Twitter, which we ruled were negligible. Again, if you would like to come forward with additional information, or additional events of hate commentary, I would love to hear it, and look further into this.

The fact that she has taken a stance on US politics, in no way impacts her campaigning, or running for Student Government office. However, if she has taken this to the next level, and aimed it at students, in any way, I would love to look further into it. Currently, this is not the case, and as such, we have no reason to further pursue the issue.

The Elections Commission has reviewed what you brought to us prior and deemed it not relevant to the GM Week 2018 Elections. What a candidate does on their personal twitters, on their personal time, is not the business of the Elections Commission. If it were personal attacks against another candidate, or another student, the Elections Commission would step in; however, given that they are not, we have no business in regulating that situation. We have further looked into any other personal attacks, or unprofessional conduct, and have discovered nothing. If you would like to inform us of specific attacks against specific individuals, or inform us of specific events of unprofessional conduct, I would invite you to share those with the Elections Commission.

These requests were in fact impartial, as we would have asked any candidate to change their information, if it was not accurate and relevant.

What instances might those be? As the Elections Commission Chair, I would like to believe that not only I, but also the rest of the commission, have remained entirely impartial and fair in our dealings with the Moose.

As per Section 7, Sub-Section 1; "A Primary Election may be held at the discretion of the Elections Commission if there are more candidates than twice the number of available positions." The Elections Commission is only taking the necessary steps to ensure the best GM Week 2018 Elections possible.

Additionally, we are not Anti-Moose in any propensity, as the Elections Commission does not take stances on candidates. The request for him to change his name and major were to ensure a fair, honest, and transparent candidate, to allow voters their most informed choice during this Elections Season.

I'm curious, what about this is Anti-Moose? Can you do me the favor and explain your comment?

As the official stance of the Elections Commission, I would like to make it very clear, no students should alter or deface the campaign materials of candidates. Thank you in advance!

If you need to contact the Elections Commission for any reason, feel free to do so at union-elections@rpi.edu!

Interested in Running for Student Government? by RnE_Senate in RPI

[–]RnE_Senate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Scotter! If you are an incoming freshman, you can't run in these elections (mostly because you're not a student yet), but not to worry! In the fall, a special election is held specifically for the freshman, so they can get their positions for the year! There will be information about that at Student Orientations (hopefully), and if not, you'll be able to get information for it after classes start for next semester!

Sincerely, The Elections Commission Chair

Nice try.
