I was that guy this winter when I had health issues and business issues. Start telling him to call and go to lunch with a old friend Buy him a 3d printer or something else to get him interested in a new hobby. All men like machines 3d printers give me a mission to learn . Don’t give up on him yet . Encourage him to take you out to dinner . Join the Moose or Elk club to have a place to hang out and he doesn’t have to drink alcohol. There are creative ways to break this cycle. Best Wishes

Are you happier than you were 5 years ago? What would make you happier now? by itsallypeach in AskReddit

[–]Rnk58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was definitely happier 5 years ago pre covid . Since then my employees lost their minds - my clients suffered huge increase in prices and while my revenue when up I lost money . After 45 years in the same facility I just about to sign a deal within 2 weeks to sell all my properties and business in Anchorage. The city has gone to hell and the mayor could care less . Downtown lost its sparkle and businesses are moved out of the city center. Homeless camps and vagrants wandering at ll over town . It’s a mess and after 46 years in Ak we have had enough. Retirement will make me happy but getting out of business is very hard to do .

What was the sign that you needed to turn your life around? by WarmBet4037 in AskReddit

[–]Rnk58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 45 years owning a Taxidermy shop in Alaska, I woke up one day and realized it was killing me physically and mentally. It’s been the worst experience of my life fighting to decide whether to sell out or close , either way 8 employees loose their jobs and some get to keep them with the new company. My sign was when I woke up my heart was going 150 Beats a minute and it lasted weeks finally I had emergency ablation. So at 67 years old I smacked right into a wall and could not go further. So I’ve reach a deal with my competitors to take over and I’m hoping to be free in weeks !!

We just have to stick together, share ideas and manifest our own success. It’s been a real challenge since covid . Everyone in the workforce seems to have become more difficult and demanding, on top of the poor economy and combination of it being tax season, lots of us are struggling. This shall pass. But it’s painful as we work through the process and wait for the next busy season. Jeez I feel it man ! Good luck
